Basic browser performance is subpar, most sites seem to be either broken or non functional, I'm assuming it's because I've signed up for the beta/testing version.

Yes, if you are using the Beta or Nightly build of Firefox for Android you may experience one or two unresolved issues that our developers are still working on.
