I have re-synced by desktop and laptop today, but I am unable to sync with my Android phone.

The instructions say to bring up firefox on my phone and click sign in. But whenever I type 'firefox.com' or 'firefox.com/pair' into my firefox browser on my Android phone, I get a version that offers to download firefox! I've been using it for years. I cannot find a way to sign in as instructed.

This has been a very frustrating experience, and I generally expect Mozilla/Firefox to do better.

Hi Charlie Cooper,

I understand how frustrating that can be — syncing across devices should definitely be smoother. Here’s how to sign in to your Firefox account correctly on Android:

1. Don’t go to firefox.com

The website just redirects to the app download page, which is why you’re seeing that message. The sign-in happens inside the Firefox app itself, not on the website.

2. Sign in from inside the Firefox app

  • Open Firefox on your Android phone.
  • Tap the three dots (⋮) in the lower-right or upper-right corner, depending on your layout.
  • Tap Settings.
  • At the top, tap Turn on Sync or Sign in to Firefox.

You can either:

  • Sign in with your Firefox Account email and password, or

Once signed in, Firefox will automatically sync bookmarks, passwords, and tabs from your desktop and laptop.

3. If the “Sign in” option doesn’t appear

Make sure you’re using the latest Firefox for Android:

Open Google Play Store → Manage apps → Firefox → Update if an update is available. Then restart Firefox and check again under Settings.

After signing in on your phone, give it a minute to sync. You can confirm it worked by going to Settings → Sync now or opening a new tab → Synced Tabs to see your desktop pages.

If the sign-in button still doesn’t appear, please mention which Firefox version and Android version you’re using so we can narrow down the cause.
