On Monday September 25th from 10PM EDT - 12AM EDT (2AM UTC - 4AM UTC on September 26th), we will be performing system maintenance on the Firefox Accounts databases for two hours. During the maintenance window, there will be brief periods of a few minutes where users will not be able to login to their accounts. Please try again at a later time.

I know that a extension, ones that add functionality can be installed from a local file on my PC but i need to know how to extract the extension and store it on my home PC ? I know there are scripts available but i don`t remember where.

Note that you can right-click the "Add to Firefox" button and use "Save Link As..." to save the XPI file. You can use "Install Add-on From File" in the cogwheel menu on the about:addons page.
