firefox 78.0.1 ask privillenges to download files at c:

Why when i update to firefox 78.0.1 DOESN'T let me to download anything at c:???

The previews version 77.0.1 i can download at c: normally.

Now i can't.

WHY????

Can you download files to your Windows user account folder and its sub folders as there might be restrictions for system folders ?

I believe you DON'T understand the problem. BEFORE THE LATEST UPDATE TO 78.0.1 I CAN DOWNLOAD FILES ANYWHERE EVEN AT ROOT C: OF MY HARD DISK WITHOUT ANY ISSUE.

When i do this full of issues update to 78.0.1 every time i try to download something at the root of the c: it bring me the privilege issue. If i try to download to a folder for example test it download it normally. The issue is ONLY when i try to download to root c: files.

And with other browsers(Chorme & internet explorer(Edge)) i don't have this issue. I can download anywhere even at c:.

I have choose firefox clear cookies every time i exit the program.

Here is a picture with the error message(But it is at Greek)

So it is FIREFOX LATEST UPDATE ISSUE AND NOT MY COMPUTERS ISSUE.

PLEASE FIX IT.

I would like you to please report your issue here link text (copy paste what you have written, and if you have more details you would like to share please do). And in the mean time maybe go back to the previous version of Firefox until your problem is fixed. Install an older version of Firefox Hopefully in the end, your problem will be resolved. Thank you for your patience.

Already try to re-install an old one version of the program the 77.0.1 but after 78.0.1 MESSED UP thing doesn't return to the previous condition and I DON'T KNOW WHY....

I get a similar message on Windows 10:

I don't usually try to save in the root of C:\, but since the Launcher Process was introduced in Firefox 68, I think I have occasionally seen permission messages along these lines. (The Launcher Process ensures that Firefox runs with minimal permissions to reduce the risk of malicious web content compromising your system.)

Why is it so important to save downloads in the root of C:\ ?

Because i want to have the FREEDOM to do it if i want it to. Why browsers like internet explorer(By the Microsoft), Google chrome e.t.c. LET YOU DOWNLOAD AT THE ROOT OF HARD DISK C IF YOU ARE ADMIN OF THE SYSTEM AND NOW THE FIREFOX DOESN'T?????

Hi Maxime, if you read many threads here, you will occasionally find a user who is a bit rude or demanding. However, the support forum volunteers generally do not think it helps to reprimand them about that, unless they are being abusive. I guess everyone has a little different view about where the "line" is.

The solution is to run the shortcut with the parameter "-no-deelevate" or turn to false this "browser.launcherProcess.enabled" at "about:config".

Hi Gregory, I'm concerned that there may be more abusive posts in this forum thread. Am I correct in assuming that this question is now solved? Can we lock this thread?

Not being able to download and save a file to C:\ has been an issue ever since the Launcher Process was enabled for Firefox 68 users on Windows. Details: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1265388#answer-1239986 Firefox upgraded to 68 I can't save anything to C:\ "A required privilege is not held by client"

This is not an acceptable solution cause at some pc's I can't modify the shortcut so.......

Is there any other way to make the switch permanent at false and not at every Firefox update must return it to false???

Yes if we find a way to stay ALWAYS AND PERMANENTLY false this switch yes it solved the issue.

But as you se I try to lock this switch with personal settings but it doesn't work even it shows it was locked every time Firefox update it return to true even it show locked false.
