TBird suddenly wont connect to ISP server WHY?

I have used TBird (currently 60.8 - 64 bit) on MacPro (currently Majove 10.14) since year 2000. Best in the world. Suddenly mid morning Fri 16 Aug 2019 it stopped connecting to my 2Degrees ISP. Both outgoing and incoming mail failed. 2 Degrees could not solve the problem. My computer could connect with 2Degrees Webmail IN & OUT. They said it was my computer, not their system.

Damn I hate apples messages, chopped up and mangled.

However I can see enough of the message to read refused. So my guess is you have recently installed or updated an anti virus product.

Thanks for on-going help; much appreciated. i) Followed instructions meticulously; ii) No URL resulted; iii) Thunderbird did not work in Safe Mode. iv) should I attached the the troubleshooting text?

Check spelling of server name and username.

  • Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.snap.net.nz

Hi Toad-Hall Thanks for your input. The info you gave matches exactly the settings I have in place. Good to have confirmation that this aspect is OK. Mystery: on Sat 24 Aug NZ time 7 inwards messages appeared in my in-box; however, the usual alert about non-connectivity came on the screen when I tried to get mail. Trying to send still gives me the non-connectivity alert.

ISP fixed the problem at their end. Thanks to all for help and advice.
