For a while (since version XX) opening office documents stored in Office365/SharePoint fails. Please see the error message below. The remedy until now have been using either IE or Chrome (really not satisfying). Once I in Office365 click open in eg. Excel the first message box appears, where you select Excel. Next thing to happen is that Excel opens just to inform me that file cannot be opened. Any ideas what could be wrong? The current situation forces me to use Chrome and having been a very long time user of FF (back to v 2) it really upsets me, so any advice is very much appreciated. BTW, I've set the ntlm uris in the about:config dialog.

All the best Niels

Are you using the Browser to open the file? Doesn't 365 create shortcuts and one-drive that you access the file from instead?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am using a browser. In IE and Chrome it works perfectly fine. In FF it fails. Well, we are using the corporate edition and we have a lot of sharepoint web-pages where we have document libraries. So we do not have a one-drive for those files. I tried to attach a couple of screen shots, but basically the OS (Windows 10) pops up a dialog where you select which app to use to open this link type (e.g. Excel.UriLink.16). After having selected Excel as the app to use, Excel opens and informs you "Sorry, we couldn't open 'ms-excel:ofv|ofc|u|https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites...'" Really annoying.

So how was your FF updated?

I am using the normal auto-updater. However, the problem did not start with the latest update (and honestly I cannot recall when it happened - maybe more than a year ago). I have primarily been using Chrome since then, and once in while switched back to FF, just to discover that the problem continued. So, what has changed; I just have a strong preference for FF and prefer to discontinue using Chrome.
