Firefox Nightly/Beta won't install: program will launch and request to approve modifications on the computer, but then nothing happens.

Hi,

I've installed and used Firefox Quantum for a few days now, and I love it.

However, I tried installing Firefox Nightly/Beta and they won't install. I downloaded the installer (even tried the full installer from the languages/systems page - I'm on a Windows 10 PC), the dowload goes fine, then I launch it, it asks me for permission to make changes on my computer, which I approve, and then... nothing happens. I can see in the task manager that the firefox installer is launched, but nothing happens at all.

Can someone please help with this? Thanks a lot!

If you have a bug, file a bug report. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ Bug Writing Guidelines : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ or the version of your choice.

Thank you, that worked! Now used Nightly.

Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.

You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab.

Make sure all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
  • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected

Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder.
