Firefox v. 54 and v. 56 stopped connecting to Paypal - it always redirects to another previously open tab.
So I have been using Mozilla and Firefox browsers on many notebook platforms for the last 20 years. Recently, something got corrupted, and I could not and still cannot connect to Paypal using the Firefox browser. Deleting cookies did not solve the problem. Restoring my system to a previous state (in which I know everything had worked fine) did not solve the problem. Unistalling and reinstalling Firefox did not solve the problem.
Here is what's happening: Whether I type the PayPal web address in the URL box or whether I click on a link that is in a Paypal inbound email (e.g., in a notification about a payment received), the browser will show me for a brief moment above the program icon bar "waiting for PayPal" but then another unrelated tab that I have on my Firefox screen will open instead and the blank tab will disappear. This redirecting has been consistent on each attempt. I have no problem with accessing any other web sites and web pages. What should I do to solve this problem? I can access Paypal in Chrome or Microsoft IE.
Thank you in advance for specific trouble shooting suggestions.
