Sometimes links to pdf files enable them to be downloaded by right click menu, but many require a left click. In the latter case recent versions of Firefox suck these files into its built-in pdf viewer to display them. If the user elects to save the pdf file (File:Save Page As or Rightmouseclick:Save Page As) Firefox downloads the entire file for a second time. This is a really frustrating waste of time and download capacity. Many files I need to retrieve from the web are tens-to-hundreds of megabytes in size. I don't want to read them in a browser. Can Firefox be configured to automatically save the pdf files its viewer downloads? Thanks. PS the "educated guess" about my system says I have Adobe PDF plugin installed but not activated
