I have the latest version of flash installed on my Ubuntu 14.04LTS machine. I can view flash videos just fine while surfing, but if I load a .swf game or video manually, Firefox opens up Totem's Videos which in turn tells me "Videos requires to install plugins to play media files of the following type: application/X-Shockwave-Flash Decoder." I looked into the properties for .swf's to change it to use Firefox instead of Videos, but it only gives a choice of Videos. I checked the "Other" option and selected Firefox, but then when I click on a .swf file Firefox starts up and freezes.

How do I get .swf's to play in Firefox without Firefox going through Videos?

Firefox version 40.0.03
