I once again was synced this morning with bookmarks other than my own....wasting considerable of my time to trash them the first and having to now do it again.

This is after cancelling my sync registration the first time on both laptop and desktop and then signing in again. This isn't something I have to fix....it is something off about your programming.

Note that you are running Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

  • browser.privatebrowsing.autostart: True

There are other things that need your attention.

Your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.

The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there. You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can try to delete the current Sync account and set up Sync once again to reset all data stored on the Sync server.

Not entirely helpful, other than to find myself in contact with an actual person. I need a bit more info. Is this browser.privatebrowsing.autostart: True being in permanent mode a problem? The response from Firefox seems to imply it but doesn't quite say so.

There is no System Details file on my laptop. Where can I find it so that I can get to and look at the user.js file.

I have already cancelled and re-enrolled in sync a couple of times...with the problem coming up again regardless.
