Now ,my pc is windows 7 ,running whatever the last version (always up to date) of firefox was at the time (a few months ago it started and then happened a few times)
I still have the tabs sitting like there like that , and would appreciate if there's a solution. I would like a solution to prevent it from happening again and i want to understand what the meaning of the code is and if there's somewhere within it that i can find the lost webpages.

Having updated to Firefox 17.0 (from 16.0.2), for some reason I don't get warned when closing multiple tabs any more.
I've confirmed the relevant options are selected and am 100% certain this was working fine before updating Firefox today.
I've replicated the problem on my vista 32bit platform and on XP 32 bit too.
I also looked at the changelog for Firefox 17 but can't see any explanation for this change in behaviour, although I wonder whether this might have something to do with it "772319 No option to disable the "Close other tabs" prompt."
As I use Tab Mix Plus (add-on), I've also checked Firefox in safemode and have found the native tab warnings not working, so have concluded it's an issue with Firefox (rather than something to do with an extension).
I've checked "about:config" and "browser.tabs.warnOnClose" is set to true, as is "browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs".
Any help would be appreciated.

Under Options/General "Show my tabs and windows from last time" is selected. Options/Privacy/History is set to "Remember History" Under about:config, "browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand" is set to "true"
I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox 29.01 and 30 beta 6. Same results. I installed no extensions during these trials.
When I check my profile folder, I see that sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak are not created, neither while Firefox is running nor after I exit. I have tried with a new profile as well. Same problem with both profiles.

I admittedly have way too many tabs in one session, but haven't had too many problems with concerning losing any tabs or being unable to restore my previous session. However, Firefox froze while I was browsing and I restarted my computer and opened up Firefox and was not able to restore my previous tabs. Usually if I restart my computer without exiting Firefox, the option always is available when I reboot Firefox. I am not sure why this is suddenly not an option, but I am desperate to get these tabs back, or even just a list of what each one was instead of the actual tabs. I read about ways to do this, but some seem dated and I did not understand how to do any of them. I am not sure how to find sessionstore.bak/js, which seems to be the most recommended way of fixing this issue. I currently have Windows 10 with the latest version of Firefox as of this posting. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't need what is essentially TWO windows bars covering up the entire width of my widescreen monitor's image! I already have a Windows bar at the bottom of my screen and, if I really wanted to, I could change ITS position to the top of the screen, so that it would LOOK like the Firefox tab windows bar. Firefox TABS are, essentially, a superfluous SECOND WINDOWS BAR.
Here are my reasons for why I'd rather use Mozilla's Firefox, than Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Google's Chrome. I love and admire Firefox for Mozilla's intent on good security, for Firefox's Personas add-on, and for Firefox's free use of the Ad-Block add-on which, as you know, has the distinct virtue of reducing screen clutter--the last of which is my motive for wanting to get rid of the SUPERFLUOUS Firefox tabs "windows" bar. I am dreadfully sick of companies forcing miscellaneous bars (mostly representing marketing campaigns trying to sell me something) into my browser (and down my throat) every time I download something. (In case you haven't guessed, I am deliberately referring to your Firefox tabs bar as a "Firefox tabs 'windows' bar," because TABS are WINDOWS!)

An IT from workplace had told me it was a terrible idea, so I can't say I wasn't warned. He never said why though! Today when I started FF and it displayed the last session and asked me if I wanted to restore it, I noticed an extremely high usage of the memory. Nothing was opened but that only window and it was using over 2 MB, it's never ever happened before. I googled it, I noticed it was happening to other people (I have windows 7 home premium and use a Sony Vaio laptop), I tried downgrading to a previous FF version, it didn't help, it was still using those 2 and up to 2.8 MB, without even displaying anything. Finally in this forum a user said that using the the latest version: 59.0.2 was the only thing that saved him. So I updated it again. I'm not certain how many times I closed the window using the task manager, but eventually when i reopened it, instead of offering the previous session, it only offered the home page and no way to recover the previous session. I typed this in the search button: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and it opened what I believe is the profile? I'm not familiar AT ALL with it. I went to the sessionstore-backups folder (after reading a little bit in here about what steps to take) and to my despair I only found in there a few files, all of them really small, sadly and with really old dates! I was hoping to find at least 2 or 3 with today's date, but there are only two: recovery.jsonlz4 (time 7:45 PM) and recovery.baklz4 (same: 7:45 PM). II have no idea even if those files are the ones I should be searching for and even if they were, what to do with them. I should be specific about this though, the session I closed by mistake with the task manager, that was displaying the windows and listing the tabs so that I'd select which ones to open and such, I closed way *earlier* than 7:45, that's when I closed the 'home' page, which was empty, Btw this might be important. When trying to recover this missing session I read that there was the option to set Firefox to show windows and tabs from last time and I enabled it, maybe that's what messed the whole thing up. I have no idea what to do or even how to search for information cause I guess it's a bit too specific. And I have no idea what was going on earlier today with this ridiculous CPU usage by FF or if it's related at all to what happened (I disabled addons, and no use). Now that there's only that one tab open (Google as a home page) it shows normal usage. So strange. Please let me know if there's anything that I could do, I'm desperate! I had tons of open tabs and I wish I could recover them. I'm hoping my ignorance when it comes to FF, programming and computers are getting the best of me and it's not as bad as I think it is. I'm using Chrome as I'm typing this. I opened FF again so that I could post this using it so it can see the plugins, addons and stuff, but it makes me so sad to look at it, I can't. Besides I wasted the whole afternoon 1st trying to fix that horrible memory thing and now with the lost session, I can't. Last night I decided to check the monthly weather forecast just before going to bed. I googled, "weather" then clicked through to a website before realizing it wasn't the one I meant to click. I backed out and clicked another link further down the list. I thought to myself, "That's going to screw me up in future because the wrong website will be a visited link and I'll mistake it for my preferred site."
I'm a long-time Firefox user and upgraded to Quantum when it first came out. I had made a cursory inspection of some of the new features at that time, and remembered the little counter-clockwise arrow in the toolbar was supposed to be a shortcut for deleting a set time frame of browsing history. Remembering this, I clicked it and a little menu popped up with options for how much history to forget. I clicked the option to forget 5 minutes.
I'd had multiple windows with multiple tabs open and they all disappeared instantly. I don't know if the browser crashed or simply intended to restart itself, but when it reopened there was only one window with no tabs.
I quickly hit the three bar menu button in the top-right and navigated to Library > History > Recently Closed Windows. Both this menu and Recently Closed Tabs were entirely empty.
My secondary Windows were of secondary importance, but my first and primary window had a large number of pinned and ordinary tabs that I did not want to lose. Tabs that I have been saving for months - some more than a year. Many that I migrated from Firefox I to Quantum. In the past, they have always been recoverable through the History. Now they seem to have been erased without a trace because I clicked, "Forget 5 minutes" from the toolbar.
I tried using Window's System Restore to reset my computer to a restore point from yesterday, but this had no effect on my Firefox session. Is there any way to reverse this and recover the session I've been using daily since before Quantum had been released? Is it anywhere?
