I know all the risks and I've read https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox

Unfortunately when I go to the link w/the older versions, it doesn't say how to install. I'm not a techie, so I have no idea what to do with the files.

I only want to go back to where I can still block 1st party cookies.

I've checked the add-ons. From what I've read, since ff took away this option, none of them have anything that works.

This is a new feature that has just appeared, but I don't need it (it's indicated in a red box in the attached screenshot). However, it takes up space on the bookmarks pop-up window. I suppose it's a sign that I need to clean and organize my bookmarks, but I still would prefer to turn it off so it doesn't appear in the pop-up. I'm using Firefox 49.0b1 on a 2013 MacBookPro running OS 10.10.5 Thanks!

About "Be Nice" .. not so nice below, BUT I AM SIMPLY FED UP WITH FIREFOX SCREWUPS ... YES, SWITCHING TO GOOGLE CHROME, BUT I NEED THIS FIXED TO GET MY DATA BACK AND EXPORT :

Once again ... Firefox has destroyed my bookmarks, add-ons etc. when I "updated" Firefox ... Macbook Pro OS X

in the past, I have cumulatively taken hours to fix this -- on 4-5 occasions of the SAME PROBLEM (read: unfixed by Mozilla/Firefox)

a) why cant Firefox get their stuff together? .. WHY DOESN'T MOZILLA/FIREFOX FIX THIS !!!!

b) do they think my time is free? how can they, getting paid for their software development, expect me to lose money away from my business every time I "upgrade" ... so presumptious, so offensive, so oblivious to its "clients"

c) I don't know of any ... any ... any .... any software developer that requires a user to fix it's software -- again sometimes taking hours, including trying to find Help like this Mozillla user "support" input -- after an "upgrade" ... simply unbelieveable, simply UNACCEPTABLE ... TO YOU FIREFOX PEOPLE OR ITS REPS ... WILL YOU PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE AND GET WITH THE 21ST CENTURY? ....

d) WHERE IS THE “SUPPORT"? .. where is the IN PERSON support that is going to fix my computer after screwing up my long input data gathering with their so-called "upgrade" ???? Two things are for sure: 1) it's gonna get fixed and 2) I'm certainly not going to spend any more of my own time and lose money from my business to fix Firefox's programming screwups. DON’T KNOW OF ANY … ANY … ANY … ANY company that does not have IN-PERSON SUPPORT … software and its functions are complex .. they need to be supported through interpersonal interaction … every other company in the world knows this … why not Mozilla???? I just don’t get it.

e) For past and present, even this "help" note, where do I invoice Mozilla for my time lost? ... where headquarters? .. accounts payable?/ I assume one of the non-Mozilla, non-person reps knows the answer to this ... surely they don't expect me to lose money by way of their "upgraded" product.

f) As one of you reps sugggested last time this happened : "well you chose Firefox, ... if u don't like problems, go use another browser" ... gee, that's good customer support ... our product sucks so use another -- geez.

g) Indeed I now intend to use another, but I will first be satisfied by Mozilla/Firefox's restoration of my computer, cumulative time lost and literal restoration of data exactly as was before the "update", and the payment by Mozilla for all my time in trying to remediate this and if any data lost, the historical time used to cumulate and enter such data.

If anyone out there in the GREAT MOZILLA/FIREFOX ABYSS knows anything about their products and their continuing failures, please respond to my questions above.

I expect someone at Mozilla or a rep thereof to, for once, BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR FAULTY PRODUCTS AND CUMULATIVE STRESS BURDEN AND MONEY LOST BY CUSTOMERS.

I AM LOSING MONEY AS I SPEAK, AS I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO MY BOOKMARKS WHICH I NEED AT-THE-READY WHEN WORKING ... SO … SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, FIX THIS NOW!! _________ Again, not so nice, but perhaps a reader can understand my ongoing frustrations. NOTHING PERSONAL TO ANY INDIVIDUAL PERSON. I AM ADDRESSING ORGANIZATIONAL ISSUES.

Is this statement below true? If so I will be forced to use another browser. These are safe and well functioning extensions I have installed from trusted web developers. I have trusted Firefox since, well "forever", and now limiting or even causing my extensions to stop functioning is bad. So upset about this and after all these years of having a functioning browser with the ease of making it more my own and having limited use such as with Chrome, Safari or IE is far the worst decision I have ever seen in the history of Mozilla. Hoping some feedback from others may help the developers make a better decision, and hoping Firefox can remain in the top for user-friendly experience. There are enough FREE web extensions out there to protect us all from malicious web sites and virus protection programs we all can use to keep us safe on our computers and web, why would a decision be made to limited extension security be implemented when all is working fine. Even my McAfee SiteAdvisor and Avast Online Security are showing they cannot be verified now with version 40. Ridiculous and bad for consumers who have always liked and trusted Firefox for a more user-friendly experience.

August 21, 2015

Mozilla just announced their intent to deprecate so called XUL-based add-ons in favor of what they call the WebExtensions API within the next year or two. The WebExtensions API is supposed to be mostly compatible to Chrome/Safari extension APIs.

What does this mean for XUL-based add-ons? Well, for starters, Extensions will be dead if XUL-based add-ons with XPCOM access are gone. Simple as that. The new APIs would only allow for a severely limited in functionality, severely stripped down Extensions at best.

Gone will be add-ons that e.g. let you change major bits about the Firefox user interface (e.g. tabs tree add-ons), add-ons that allow you to do more “advanced” stuff than just showing or slightly altering websites, such as e.g. restarting the browser upon click (unless mozilla kindly provides an API for that, which won’t be compatible with Chrome, of course). Add-ons like NoScript will be severely limited in their feature set as well. Say byebye to Greasemonkey and hello to Tampermonkey, with it’s limitations. Want that add-on that lets you change the new tab page for something else or enhances that page? Maybe it will be available, maybe not, depending on if and when mozilla kindly provides WebExtensions APIs for such things. And of course, depending on if there will be an author creating this entirely new add-on from scratch.

What this also means: Almost all your existing add-ons will be broken, entirely, save for some Add-on SDK add-ons, namely those that don’t do anything fancy. Sure, even today, lots of add-ons break, and some add-ons will not get updated when they do and there are no suitable replacements. However, with this change, almost every add-on will be completely broken and in need of major updating by the extension authors. Good luck with that.

It is safe to say, that Firefox will not be Firefox anymore as far as extensions go, but instead will become yet another Chrome-clone.

To be clear: I was furious when the extension signing stuff was announced and then actually implemented, which effectively created yet another Walled Garden, but regarding this announcement I am just sad. Right now, it feels like I just learned my dear old friend Firefox is going to die.

I know how to check the current version I am using but I would like to know what Mozilla has released for the current version release of Firefox. I used the About Firefox to obtain what version I am using and Mozilla says its Version 36.0.4 . which states Firefox is up to date. Yesterday, I downloaded Version 37.0 from Mozillas' web site and today it is not available. What is going on?

I don’t want to be rude or disrespectful towards you volunteers at Mozilla Support, but I wonder why I don’t get any support on two questions I posted here.

The first one was posted almost 1 month ago ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1157093 )… The second one 10 days ago ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1159272 actually a repost of the first one with a shorter and clearer explanation of the issue - I thought that might help, and there was also a banner on top of the page about an issue at the support forum)...

Essentially what I ask for is a confirmation of the issue and whether or not I could file it as a bug. Not really complicated, I thought.

Why are my questions ignored for such a long time?

I'm running Firefox 35.0.1 on a MacBook running OSX Yosemite. I open the Add-ons Manager, navigate to Plugins, and click "Check to see if your plugins are up to date". This takes me to the Plugin Check page. However, none of my plugins are listed on that page. I use Firefox as my primary browser and mainly work on Windows machines. I'm new to Mac, so perhaps that's the problem.

Any suggestions, tips, or other help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

When I go to "Tools" / "Plug-Ins" and click on "Check To see If Plugins Are Up To Date" it goes to Mozilla Check Your Plugin Page, but fails to show plugins or checked plugins update status. I am using OS X 10.10.2 / Firefox 35.0.1 / February-7-2015

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_campaign=plugincheck-update

Tried, re-installing over original, clearing cookies, clearing cache and starting in Safe Mode to no avail. Mozilla has gone of track once again. Situations like this are among the causes for Firefox rapidly losing Browser share. Another ridiculous oversight and there's never any support for when things do go awry. No professional concern, with a competent cause and cure. none.

Ironically the "check to see if your plugins are up to date" web site loads the plugins and their update status in Safari and Chromium. But still does not show the plugins or their update status when loaded in Firefox 35.0.1 on OS X 10.10.2.

Need info and a fix, please... Thanks! Whitebuck

Hi,

I'm asking this question again as I may not have explained the problem correctly in my earlier question related to the same topic.

I have installed OneTab to my Firefox and it doesn’t show up in the toolbars. It is showing as 'Enabled' in the Extensions list and in 'Additional Tools and Features' it shows without an icon but with the title that says ‘Send tabs to ‘OneTab’. On hovering, this area seems to be active. However, unlike other icons there, I am unable to drag and drop this to the toolbar.

I have already tried the following:

1. Disabled all other extensions but Onetab and restarted Firefox. 2. Removed all other extensions but OneTab and and restarted Firefox. 3. Removed all extensions including OneTab and re-installed just OneTab after restarting Firefox. 4. I removed Firfox and re-installed it and re-installed just OneTab.

None of these steps helped me. Please advice on how to solve this.

Thanks
