Some websites load but are not functioning properly, for example: Kelloggs Family Rewards home page works fine, but when I try to log in, I just get circles and it never loads. Chrome works fine. Or my health insurance web site, some buttons work, others do not, but works fine in Chrome. I have cleared cache, cookies, disabled add-ons, started Firefox in safe mode, restarted my computer, scanned for malware with 2 different software packages, disabled Java Script (which made no pages load), most recent version of Firefox is installed. What am I missing? Please help.

My Windows 10 taskbar is set to auto-hide. For some reason, with Firefox on my laptop (but not on my desktop computer), Firefox will not allow the taskbar to pop up. I have searched for multiple solutions, and attempted:
- Restarting with add-ons disabled. - Closing the browser and then renaming xulstore.json before restarting.
The only solution that has worked temporarily is going into full-screen mode then exiting it, but again, it is only temporary, as either minimizing the window or leaving maximized mode will cause the problem to reoccur when the window is maximized again.

We have an embedded device that uses self signed certificates. Firefox is very slow doing the handshaking and cgi calls. Chrome operates fine. Attached is the timing of some of the cgi calls. Where Chrome takes 325ms Firefox takes over 12 seconds for the same call. What would cause the 2 to be so different? Is there anything we can change on the html headers to make faster?

Setting Firefox to run as admin through compatibility settings causes what seems like infinite prompts to run as admin, and basically never opens. The only solution I have to being able to open Firefox as admin is to do it manually, whereas before I haven't had this problem to the same degree. Occasionally before this infinite series of prompts, it would sometimes prompt me 3 times before opening Firefox as admin while having "Run as Admin" enabled under compatibility settings.
Not sure why this is happening, or why it's getting worse, reinstalling did not fix this issue either. So whatever is happening, I thought I'd just report it here to see if anyone else is experiencing something similar to this.

I've been using Firefox for many months and rarely had issues with this, but I've been unable to open documents from SharePoint to the MSFT apps on my computer for the last two weeks. When I have a SharePoint link that I need to open, one of two things happens: - if I right-click on the link and select "open in Word" (or whatever MS product I need), I get the following error message: "Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (ms-word) isn’t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address"
- If I open the document in the browser and then select "Open in app," it indicates that the app has been opened but nothing happens.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

After my computer lost power due to a selective power failure (we are not currently sure whether it was a blown fuse or something else), we Rebooted the computer after connecting the power cable to an outlet that works. Currently power is still of at both the original outlet, and several other outlets in the area, as well as a selective area downstairs.
Upon booting up Firefox (I have it set so that it will reopen any tabs I was viewing upon shutdown or restart or crash) I noticed that it was taking longer to load than usual (even accounting for the large number of tabs I constantly have open), and then after it had loaded that I could not access any of that tabs. I can click on them, and they will be highlighted if moused over, but the only thing that shows is a white screen for the actual site. I have included a picture of this. I have come to the conclusion that this is a Firefox error, given I was able to restart and recover all of my Google Chrome Tabs.
In addition to the Tabs not loading, Tabs to the left and right of the Tabs currently viewable are not accessible, and seem to almost not exist, if not for the lack of scroll arrows. In addition, scrolling left and/or right produces no response.
Normally I would grab the crash file and reopen the tabs from that, but I don't know whether I currently can, and current Firefox issues noted below make me leery of trying.
Upon noting that I could, I attempted to open a second Firefox session, and succeeded. However, in this session some of the same issues are occurring, mainly that I cannot search anything through the html bar, including opening websites by name (i.e. google.com produces but a blank white screen and no reaction), and there is no new tabs screen when I open a new tab (as I have set up in my settings to be the case). However, I can, for some reason, access sites from my bookmarks. The only way I was able to send this report is that Firefox automatically opened to a homepage when I opened the new session.
Needless to say, I'm rather concerned. I love Firefox as a browser, and not being able to use it is both concerning and frustrating. I hope to hear from you soon to resolve the matter.
Many Thanks.
P.S. If it at all helps (please disregard if it doesn't) the symbol that looks like a multi-forked branch on the modem is dark. I unfortunately do not know what that means.

Hi, I hope someone can help! I've tried everything.
I’m using a desktop; Dell; newer. Windows 10; 1903; plenty of speed and space left. No viruses, etc.; have done many scans (malwarebytes, adware, etc.)
For whatever reason (I think I incorrectly shut down Firefox and/or my computer, and that was the beginning of the problem), Firefox is causing lot of issues.
Won’t open or close. followed all the advice on this site.
Found out on this site to try ending Firefox in task manager; when that didn’t work; went in to and deleted parent.lock from the profile.
Then rebooted the computer; still wouldn’t open (or did once, but then had the same problem?) Tried shutting off the computer and restarting rather than rebooting many times during all this process as well.
I followed what someone said about adding the word OLD after places.sqlite. So in the original profile folder I have:
places.sqliteOLD places.sqlite-shmOLD places.sqlite-walOLD
that didn’t help things. Then someone said to add OLD to ‘prefs.js’
So I have:
prefs.jsOLD prefs-1jsOLD prefs-2.jsOLD prefs-3.jsOLD Etc….up to # 9; I have 9 of them
That didn’t help.
I then saved that original profile to the desktop. Uninstalled Firefox; and reinstalled it.
If you go into profile folder, it shows the original profile(‘default’) and a new one I guess it creates when you reinstall Firefox? (called ’default-release’).
I tried opening etc. with that new ‘default-release’ profile. Same issues. Again I went into task manager, to end process (sometimes works for some of the instances; but usually not all?); deleted parent.lock again. Rebooted.
Then I created a brand new profile (without going into Firefox; but following some instructions on how to create a new profile without Firefox being open).
I opened Firefox with that brand new profile (it asks me which of the 3 profiles I want to use when I went to open Firefox). I opened tabs, used it, etc. works ok; …..
BUT it won’t close or reopen! So same issues with the brand new profile!
The ‘default-release’ profile and the brand new one I created were never changed or touched; never added the word OLD to anything in there; made no changes.
So Firefox wouldn’t close; so I had to do all of the above again (try to end task in task manager; delete parent.lock, and reboot).
So now I’m at my wits end!!!
I can’t find anything left to try. : (
I hope someone can help!
Thanks!

After a recent automatic update my old problem with Firefox Quantum came back. Every time I open Firefox browser I get multiple 4-6 firefox.exe running in the background processes. When I go into details and try to end process tree it crashes my browser. When I open Firefox it starts all over again. I have gone into about:preferences and
De-select ‘Use recommended performance settings’ Set Content process limit value to ‘1’ from its default value
I have also gone into about:config and switched browser.tabs.remote.autostart to false. Still have the same problem.

I just wrote a note about this to the comments section but thought I would pose it here. Since V70, Firefox has been crashing on its own and leaving behind an open process. When I try to restart, it says that Firefox is already running but not responding; close the instance first.
I've been to task manager and it will not allow me to close the process. It does nothing.
My only solution thus far has been to refresh the operating system with a backup image; no solutions given me by the local community have worked yet.
This is now about the 5th time this has happened since V70 download and reloading the OS is getting pretty tiring. I'm currently on V71 and the problem has not yet been solved with the updates.

I was using a Mac (used Firefox for the website i'm talking about) until recently. I now use a brand new Windows 10 laptop. I have noticed that Youtube looks completely different on the new computer than it did on the Mac. Can anyone explain why? Also, when I go on Youtube on Internet Explorer on the new laptop, it looks the way it does on the Mac. What's going on? Is there a way to get it looking like it did on the Mac? I've also attached screenshots from both computers. The first pic is from the Mac, the 2nd is from the Windows 10 laptop.
