I'm having serious performance issues with Firefox. I have reset Firefox to try and address it and that didn’t help.

Pages take forever to load and the task manager indicates 50 – 75% utilization while FF struggles to load pages. This CPU action continues as long as the browser is running. The “Plugin Container for FF” in addition to “FF” itself is sucking up a lot of resources. If I kill the Plugin Container process, FF reports that Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed and certain pages load that wouldn’t load up to this point. There’s obviously something wrong in the flash. The task manager still shows a 50% CPU usage and the page loads crawl.

If I continue to kill the Plugin Container process, I can coax pages to load.

I'm running Adobe Flash version 25.0.0.171.

The plugins I'm using are:

OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. File: 1.6 Path: C:\Users\Elaine\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\s553bxtb.default-1494947582755\gmp-gmpopenh264\1.6 Version: 1.6 State: Enabled

This problem just started recently.

I'd like to try switching to Firefox 64-bit, since I've heard it might help with the continuous problems I've been experiencing with Flash. (Since the last Flash update, I've been totally unable to use it in Firefox, and have had to uninstall it. Though even before the last update, I've been having lots of hangups/problems with it, even on sites where it was disabled. Clearing the cache doesn't fix the problem and most other solutions are too complicated for me to understand.)

1. If/when I switch, will it keep my bookmarks, history, cookies, autofilled forms, saved passwords, profile, and whatnot?

2. If it doesn't work, can I safely switch back to 32-bit, and keep all the above as well?

3. Does it look like my computer will handle Firefox 64-bit okay?:

Windows 7 Home Premium

Manufacturer: Samsung Electronics

System type: 64-bit Operating System

After rebooting my laptop and reloading Mozilla Firefox the browser converted to a Spanish language version. This includes the tool bars, Help section and all. Despite multiple efforts to convert from Spanish to English format, I have been frustratingly unsuccessful. This also happened with Chrome but I was able to correct that browser. Help?

How to disable pdf documents from getting opened and stored as Firefix HTML Documents

Hi all,

Since a few days all pdf documents that I download (which is a fair few as I am an academic reading a lot of papers) get stored as Firefox HTML Documents and are stored with the mozilla icon rather than the simple pdf icon. While this might be useful for some - although i have no idea for whom - for me it's extremely annoying. I already managed to disable the plugin that automatically opens pdfs in firefox rather than in adobe acrobat, but still everything gets stored in this new way which truly serves no purpose. Every time i open a pdf now my mozilla browser automatically opens, only to give a blank page (as i disabled the plugin) and then adobe opens.

I absolutely don't see the convenience of this given that i need to download and work in the documents i want to read and not just simply scroll through them online. Any advice on how to delete the "Firefox HTML document" type completely and change all the documents that are stored as such back to normal pdf documents would be greatly appreciated. For reasons unknown all my pdf files on dropbox have magically transformed in this new Firefox filetype.

I hope there is simple and convenient way of changing this, else it will be the end of my days as a Mozilla Firefox user, which would be too bad.

Simon

I got a very official looking red screen with the Firefox logo titled "Urgent Firefox update". It had the normal looking opening file box asking me if I wanted to save the file: firefox-patch.exe, a binary file from https://ahghointernetno.net . I closed the window and started researching if this was real. I did make a print screen copy to WordPad but was unable to upload it here do to unsupported file type.

I've established an exception for the pop up blocker for a website. However, the pop ups I need are not coming up. When I hit the information bubble in the address bar, it says that pop up windows are indeed being allowed on the site, but they are not coming up when prompted. I already have tried with my AdBlockPlus disabled to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, Firefox won't let me connect to my own brand new Dlink router. Chrome, Opera and Edge there is no problem, but with Firefox I cannot find a way to add an exception to allow it. Here is the error message:

"An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.10.1. SSL received a weak ephemeral Diffie-Hellman key in Server Key Exchange handshake message. Error code: SSL_ERROR_WEAK_SERVER_EPHEMERAL_DH_KEY The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem"

Is there any easy way around this problem? Thanks

When I attempt to save photos and videos from the internet, my "save as" has recently started adding .jfif on the end, behind .jpg or .mp4. This just started in the last couple of days, and I have to manually remove the .jfif before I can save it. It only does this with Firefox, but not with IE or Chrome. How do I change it back?
