Firefox won't open. I have rebooted to no avail. I have killed it in Task Manager, uninstalled it, deleted the folder and tried to reinstall. At about 70% of the way through the installation, it pauses and there is a message saying that the installer is not responding. The installation panel then disappears. If I try to run it then, the behaviour is the same as it was to begin with, not opening but registering in the Task Manager.

El Capitan (10.11.6), Firefox 59.0.2

addons.mozilla.org won't install this add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/anonymox/?src=search), asks for a newer version of Firefox (it says I'm using 36.0), even though I have the latest version (59.0.2). Switching "privacy.resistFingerprinting" to "true" has no effect, except that addons.mozilla.org now sees it as 52.0 (I still need 56.0 or higher).

I keep turning on my computer to find Firefox & Thunderbird have changed. Today, Theme & Font Changer on Thunderbird stopped working, on 2 separate computers. I have slected "Never check for updates" on all programs to stop this very problem. Why is it happening & how can I stop it?

These just waste space , i dont like them , i didnt ask for them, remove them or BYE BYE mozilla after 10+ years

For a while now my firefox browser has had some issues, Netflix will load onto the main homepage but it won't load fully, leaving icons rotating at the bottom and unable to click on a show or search for any - however loads fine on safari. It also won't let me buy things on amazon - it takes me to the checkout but then won't load when I click buy. Once again I am able to purchase on safari. However I am unable to use safari efficiently because it must have a virus as it gets tons of pop up ads that block the screen.

I've downloaded silverlight and tried following instructions on here, however it hasn't improved. I'm not techy at all so am struggling to understand what the problem is? I have Macbook pro which is nearly 3 years old.

As you may be aware, Webvisum is a Firefox extention which enables blind or visually impaired users to solve the Human Verrification like CAPTCHA on various websites. It has many more features to help these users and I one of them. Why Firefox has disabled the Webvisum extention? It shows Firefox couldn't verify the extention after installing or upgrading to a latest version of Firefox. That's why, we have forced to use a outdated version of browser as I'm using right now And, it is prone to viruses and worms. I hope I cleare from my side... Waiting for Reply...

When Firefox crashes, there are times when, on restart, there is no "restore session" option. It is greyed out in all places, and all of the previous tabs are lost. I save tabs across many months.

Previously, I have saved a recent sessionstore.js file from the profile. Then, when this occurs, I go to the profile, delete and replace the sessionstore.js file with the saved one, and have a reasonably recent recovery of the tabs.

In this version of Firefox, 36.0.1, there is no sessionstore.js file in the profile (see screenshot 1). So, where is it?

There is a new folder called session-store backups (see screenshot 2). Reasonably, I looked in there.

There is no sessionstore.js file in that folder. There are files called recovery.js and recovery.bak in that folder. Each is dated today--3/6/2015

Is the new idea that if Firefox crashes and the tabs are not recoverable, that you rename the the recovery.js file as sessionstore.js and put it in the profile?

Or is the sessionstore.js file now in a new location?

I would always like to have a recent backup of sessionstore.js, having learned from past crashes that this is a good idea!

As an extra bonus, I have also added a screenshot of the profile folder and location (screenshot 4).

Since updating to v. 46 from v. 45, the scrollbar does not scroll. Instead it jumps right to the point where I clicked, as if I had done a shift-click. Doing a shift-click makes it behave like a regular scrollbar. So the two functions are inverted. Also, I do not care for the narrow scrollbar and would prefer to have the old clunky one back. Any fixes for this ? Thanks a lot. OS: LMDE2, Mate

Hi guys, for a long time now many websites have told me I've been using an outdated version of firefox and that I need to upgrade, but when I follow firefox's instructions to upgrade (?->about firefox->update and restart) it tells me that firefox is up to date also I checked the firefox version on control panel and it is the same version that the latest install appears to want to install (45.0.1). What is going on? Do I actually need to update? And if so how?

Firefox 39.0 does not play well with some of my work applications. I need to upgrade to ESR 38.1, but cannot find the upgrade link. Can I be directed to the link?

I keep getting the Shockwave is not working popup. Happens in Outlook, on web, etc. What do I need to do?

A new problem a few weeks old. When I print from Firefox, the result is a very tiny image printed at the top part of the page. If I change the settings, it chops each page up into 4 pages and prints a quarter on each page. I do not have this problem if I print from IE, so not a printer problem. I have been through every single step in the help topic on printing problems and any step suggested in answer to a forum question. No joy.

I'm always in the middle of something when my entire browser just disappears and this little dialogue box shows up and tells me something about "plug-in container.exe". I'm *SICK* of it. And when I bring back Firefox I get "Oops, this is embarrassing!" and I have to reload my tabs. It's driving me insane. I'm thankful that FF will bring me right back to where I left off, that I don't have to go back and start from the beginning but for sh*ts sakes this is annoying!!! I either have to deal with this or go back to Chrome and clear my history every ten minutes! What the hell? Is the governments spyware THAT bad?!? How in hell do I eliminate this "plug-in container.exe" crap so I no longer have to deal with this?

I can not remove extensions or plugins from 36.0.1 version. I do not have a "remove" button as is described in the page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/di

I typically run with cookies disabled (do not allow web sites to store cookies). I then manually allow selected sites to do so.

I recently tried to add a site to the exception list only to discover that many of my settings have been changed and all of my exceptions have been deleted.

I did not do this intentionally. The only thing I can think of is I allowed FF to upgrade to 36.0. I think this was a few weeks ago.

How can I get the cookie exception list back? There were at least 100, maybe a lot more. I have no way of knowing which ones they all were.

How can I prevent this from happening again?

it is irritating.this pop never goes. it comes back after few second. even i tried uninstall and install agai. in same pc in IE 8 or google chrome. it never appeared so it is mozilla firefox problem. but how toover come to it ?

My firefox is not responding in some situations is there any tweaks to fix this issue i have reinstalled windows fresh and all programs are fresh.

Firefox seems to be running fine on my other 2 computers.

So could be something i have not installed.
