Ever since I installed Firefox 23.0.1, I have had many problems. Firefox is very slow to open and crashes several times a day, especially if I'm on Facebook. The internet, especially Facebook & Facebook games are very slow. When Facebook updates, it is so slow that it hangs up my entire system.

My router and cable modem are working correctly. I recently installed new ethernet cables between the cable modem, router and computer. Brighthouse was here last week and I have a strong internet signal. All of my plug ins are up to date and so is Windows XP. I have cleaned my browser's cache several times. Closing and restarting Firefox helps for a little while.

FF 23.0.1 Windows XP.

I can download fine and they show up in the little window on Firefox, but they are not being saved to the My Documents - Downloads folder, which is where I assigned them to go in Tools-Options-General.

Since I'm on XP, there are no User files so I can't look in Users/XXX/Temp/Appdata or any of those locations.

I can double click on the downloaded file in the little Firefox window and the file opens, so I know they are saved somewhere on my computer, but where????

First off, way too damn hard to actually get to a forum or contact area to actually ask a question. Not everyone using FF is a programmer

How does it take a user like myself (been using ff for 7 or more years) 4 different pages to actually get to one to ask a question? Seriously, IE has better access to the support forums. Now on to my actual problem. I have a lot of bogging/crashing related to flash player 11, as well as even the most current version of flash (and yes I have uninstalled all older versions) reading as an outdated version. Is there no way to get ff to actually work concurrent to flash or am I just fated to run chrome instead? Wouldn't believe a hardware issue since it's just ff (even IE runs better at this point) but Acer Aspire 7741z with W7 (and yes I know it's an outdated system but specs are still up to current),

Yesterday, when I wasn't bothered opening everything from my browser, I opened a tab next to it to do some of my homework, and without thinking, i closed the browser with the last browser as well, which meant that i lost all my information from that, but didn't realize till the next day.

I've had these sorts of problems before but I was able to look at my history, then re-open my recently closed window. This time however when I tried do the same thing the next day the 'recently closed window' was grey, as though it didn't save the things I didn't open before, and the worst part about this is that I have lost probably almost or more than 200 tabs, and this isn't a laughing matter, because all the things which I had before were things which I've been keeping and saving for months, till I was going to use it.

I tried to find a solution by looking back at my earliest history and starting back, but most of the information I had had been kept for over a few months, meaning I'm unable to check it.

So could i kindly ask you to find a solution for me please because this has gotten me very depressed that I can't recover the things I like as losing it made me depressed to the point that I lied on my bed for a few hours without sleeping.

Thank You.

Hi! I use your awesome browser as my #1 browser. Since the most recent update, however, I can not see content on Facebook that was available (and works on all other browsers).

Here is a link where you can see it working on all other broswers but not FF:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Gables-Inn/91848818163?id=91848818163&sk=app_243138959111822

It in an iFrame FYI.

I have developed over 3000 FB pages and now they only work in the other browsers. I have gotten most of my clients to instal FF so this is an even bigger issue. I am out of ideas. Please let me know if its me or what to do to make it work.

Thank you so much!!!!

This is a recent problem; this behavior is new and it is unclear what has changed in my system. 1. The problem does not occur with I.E. 2. Win8 , Firefox, and Flash plug-in are current. 3. Running Firefox in safe mode does not help. 4. I have removed and reinstalled Firefox , Flash, and RealPlayer 5. Java is working. temporary SOLUTION: Deleted RealPlayer

The new tab button disappeared from my navigation menu. No changes or upgrades had been made. Whereas all the support topics suggest going to Customize Toolbar, the new tab button no longer exists there either. It was there in the morning, gone in the evening for no apparent reason. The + does exist at the end of series of tabs, but not in the navigation toolbar, and the add tab + does NOT exist anywhere on a page there there is only one tab. I do have HIDE TAB BAR WITH ONE TAB 1.1 but have had it for weeks and the new tab button was always there. How can I restore the New Tab button to the Navigation bar if it is not available in the Customize Toolbar selection?

This has been happening since I went from firefox 3.6 to firefox 18 when it came out to the 23.0.1 I have right now. When I go on some specific heavy websites such as yahoo news, the browser and my computer will lock up for about 10 seconds while my hard drive light is on the whole time, and the only info about:crashes gives me is a link to a page called throttling, which apparently doesnt exist anymore. It happens whether its on manual or automatic cache size and only seems to happen when its at max cache. According to about:crashes it happened only 4 times before I went from 3.6 to 18.

Ive tried turning almost all of my addons off and that didnt work, ive had harware acceleration off for a really long time so its not that. I always have all my plugins turned off except flash and it doesnt seem to have anything to do with flash. The firefox health report also counts it as a crash.

Hello, I've recently installed Firefox on my new PC after giving Chrome yet another chance (I've had bad experiences with it) and after seeing crashes everywhere I just gave up. I'm a long-time Firefox user but I've never been able to figure out how to prevent the New Tab Page from showing the Browser's History. Is there a way to make Firefox show Bookmarks and Folders on the NTP instead ? Also, is there a way to make the Bookmarks bar show on the New Tab Page ONLY ?

I'm a very, very heavy Firefox user who uses your web browser for my job as a hockey blogger.

I've had significant difficulties with Firefox crashing over the past month. I'm running AdBlock Plus, NoScript, FlashBlock, Image Toolbar, Session Manager, Tabmix Plus and Cookie Controller, and I've never had issues with my extensions before (the plug-ins I use are minimal; Java, Flash, VLC, Silverlight, Quicktime, Adobe Acrobat)...

But the new build has very regularly crashed when I attempt to refresh my tabs, when I am scrolling through image-heavy websites (the background will blink to "gray" and it will soon crash) or when I've got an excessive amount of tabs open.

I've attempted to remove as many plug-ins (including some automatic translators as I deal with multiple languages to cover hockey news) as possible, I've attempted to turn each and every plugin off, I've shut off Sync, I've looked for assistance online and I haven't found any answers to my problems.

I'd prefer to not migrate to Chrome or especially IE, because working 60-80 hours a week, I've found that Firefox is the best tool available with which I can accomplish the tasks necessary to do my job, but it's become very glitch-y and the crashes are frustrating as I often lose information added to my blog and lose chunks of time trying to catch up with myself.

I'm starting to wonder whether having both TabMix Plus and a Session Manager are causing the problems, but while I'm a heavy computer user, I'm no browser expert, so I could use any and all assistance possible in addressing this matter.

That's my story.

Thanks for your time,

How do I make it so that when I search with my address bar it ALWAYS uses Google, regardless of what search engine is selected in the search bar? It used to be like this, but a recent Firefox update altered it. Now, when I search with my address bar it uses the search engine selected in the search bar...if I wanted to do that, I would just use the search bar! Any suggestions?

Okay - for YEARS now I've used ONLY Firefox - it had the best extensions and add-ons of any other browser out there. Add to it, it was safe and very quick. So it was my default browser.

This week I logged into my DeviantArt site and odd advertisements started showing up in the lower left and right corners of the browser, unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Add to it, they were very inappropriate! So I assumed that something was wrong, and went through three, as in 3, programs to find out if I had any 'bugs' causing the problems. And of course, there was some kind of nasty bug in Firefox causing all kinds of issues.

So, following the suggestions of the fixer, plus the suggestions here, I deinstalled Firefox (21) then reinstalled the newer version, 23. At first, I thought, "Wow, that is really fast!". When I opened Firefox it didn't go to my home page, it went to the Firefox startup page, along with opening tabs for EVERY add-on and extension!

So, opened Tools, Options and reset the home page to my home page, https://www.google.com

Simple, and something I've done before. I'm a computer geek and have worked on my own additions. So, set up my home page, was working in Firefox, went to youtube to download a video and it wouldn't! So went to DLhelper, read their comments, changed one of the strings, and voila! No problems!

So I thought it was fixed and I was happy. That was last night. This morning I boot the puter and the first thing I do is open Firefox . And what happens? Oh, yes, that's right, NOTHING THAT I WOULD HAVE WANTED! It's back to the Firefox startup page, and it opens tabs for EVERY SINGLE ADD-ON!

Holy carp, getting tired now. So I research from 8 this morning until about an hour ago, so just over 5 hours I keep trying to fix it based on Firefox instructions. Go into about:config, work on the strings, change the home page info, etc. Save it. Go back to Tools, Options and there's my home page. Close Firefox and open it, and what the heck? Again, back to where it was, opening as if I just uploaded this browser. Now I've spent literally HOURS trying to fix this and I'm so frustrated that I'm just about ready to de-install it! My one complaint is that I searched all over to try and find this same problem and cannot find it. Is that true, I'm the only one with this bizarre problem???

For about a month, I've had an intermittent problem with FF dumping the list of cookie exceptions each time the browser closes. I originally had a very lengthy list of exceptions and noticed a few weeks ago that it was now completely blank.

After I discovered the problem, I checked to make sure I do NOT have "site preferences" checked on the options to clear FF's history on close. I also tried deleting the prefs.js file, thinking it might have become corrupt.

I had thought the problem had resolved itself -- although I was never able to recover my original list of exceptions, but for the last week or so, the exceptions did not change when I closed. However, after FF upgraded yesterday to 23.0.1, the exceptions list cleared itself again. Now, each time I close the browser, it dumps the list again.

Any suggestions? I have a lengthy list of sites I would rather not allow to use cookies and and I'm getting pretty frustrated at having to recreate it over and over.
