I just clicked various answers on the above site and I just realised that they are not firefox. Can someone help me understand what I just did? And how to rectify this?

Tried to trace and failed. Appears it may be a vulnerability with Windows 10 and Firefox..similar to what a fair amount of users experience with Edge but much more limited.

Experienced this 3 times in 2 weeks and I am fairly consistent in the sites I navigate. <10 on a daily basis,with 20+ hours/week activity, and the page will generally reroute to this Critical Update page while clicking on of these bookmarked sites.

Firefox updated to 51.0 on a customers PC

Now a ton of junk wound up in the picture folder, it also duplicated all the junk to the music folder, I have deleted all the duplicates in the music folder but the pictures folder has a ton of trash in it, it does not belong there.

every since i did the critical update i now get a error message every day that i open which say

"firefox has stopped working" " a problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

A pop up window comes on my screen and says something like 'we strongly urge you to update..... ' and then lists the current version number. When I check to see what version I have, it already is the latest. I have had identity theft and am very leery of these notices when Firefox says it automatically updates--if so then why do I get these requests? I am running Win10. What is NPWLPG?

This site somehow opened a new tab when I wasn't doing anything in FF, with a notification that there is an "Urgent Firefox Update." Had all the right graphics, but the site obviously has nothing to do with Mozilla. I almost went for it.

I see questions raised about this variously changing URL popup, but I see no solutions. I have used Norton, NPE, Malware Bytes, JRT, SpyBot and Kaspersky TDSS killer, and none of them can find where it has hidden in my system. So, I'd like a solution; otherwise, since I can't have this malware popping up when I'm performing a banking operation or paying a bill online, I'd prefer to uninstall Firefox altogether and go back of IE or try Chrome. No need to show an image; if you have had it, you know what it is.

Almost everyday I get a request to download new Firefox updates, but the address always bothered me, there was always different URL addresses and the latest one comes from "https://ooghuprank.org/". So I am thinking this is spam. But I get it all the time, and I don't know what to do about it. I need help.

Recently I have had problems with Firefox. Starting on the morning of Dec. 14th 2016 I turned on my computer and started Firefox, and a new window opened after it saying i needed to install your patch immediately, which i did. I assumed it was about all the hacking of accounts going on but now Firefox barely functions. Youtube and Twitch are almost useless to try and go on and even starting up on my homepage it freezes and hangs until I close it with the Task Manager and try and open it. I have to do this multiple times a session after 12 years of flawless operation now Firefox leaves much to be desired. I've run through all the helpful hints on the troubleshooting pages, to no avail. What's going on? I have updated Firefox to 50.1.0 and I'd hate to think that little patch just destroyed the functionality of this program, but i am keen to get it back to working as flawlessly as it did for 12 years right up until that morning. I will occasionally be redirected to malicious sites that great dialogs in an endless loop, trapping me on the page and not allowing me to close that tab or window without using task manager to kill firefox as a whole, which can lose me any work I was doing at the time. I have seen firefox give the prompt to stop the site from producing additional dialogs in previous versions, and from my searches all the other complaints are that this function is too invasive for others. However for me it doesn't seem to function at all. Hopefully this is any easy fix. I can not add a url as I can not interact with the address bar while dialogs are being created.

Firefox updated this am when I accessed the internet and left a message to provide my email address or 9 digit phone number in order to use Firefox on my phone. Is this a legitimate request by Firefox? I have received messages on the Firefox browser that purported to be from Firefox to download the latest version of Firefox which I later determined were not sent by Firefox.

3 or 4 days ago, a popup came on my Facebook page saying that Firefox needed to be updated or fixed, sorry I don't remember what it said. I clicked on it and kept on the page with no problems. Got off the a page about an hour or so later. Came back later and tried to play a couple of games and they wouldn't load or took forever to load also a yellow lock showed up which was always green before. Went to the Monzilla site and tried to figure out what to do. Reinstalled Firefox as suggested and seemed to work after that. Came back later and tried to get on again and had the same problem. Again reinstalled Firefox, but this time it didn't repair it. Since that time, it hasn't worked to completely open at all. I have tried several times to reinstall since and still won't work or install partly. Have also run Norton complete system scan several times including Norton's eraser still didn't do anything. Been using Firefox for years and never have any problems before, I'm at a total loss.

As you can most likely see, I'm not a computer wiz, but, do use it several times a day.

I got a pop up on Firefox that said there was an urgent update I installed it once not knowing any better that it was done internally (I like watching for malware and Trojans so I know but I had never seen it before so I thought nothing of it) and then it kept coming up and I ignored it but it's been getting annoying

I can be using a browser like yahoo and a full screen logo of foxfire will come up with a box saying a problem with java and an opportunity to download a fix. But where it is to loaded from is never Mozilla or foxfire. I have the latest version of foxfire and have never trusted these popups. If these popups are not to be trusted is there a way to block them.

I was on Snagajob.com just now, searching for jobs. All of a sudden my screen just changed to what I assumed was the Mozilla update site, where it was a reddish orange colored screen, saying urgent update, please update now. So I clicked the update link, and a 2nd screen popped up. (Screenshot below) Then I looked at the address bar and this was the web address:

Can anyone please help? I don't know if I should continue to stay online, exit then reopen my browser, or what!! What will this do to my laptop? If this was fake how can I remove it? I have antivirus/malware installed and nothing popped up!
