Actually just prior to this update, i click on wisn http://www.wisn.com/weather and it will not give error message but doesn't play the weather update morning video. I have used it forever, but suddenly nothing, no message. I tried it in safe mode, I tried it turning off adblockerplus, I tried to figure out if anything was blocking or stopping, my java is enabled, and yet, nothing. please help me discern what steps to do. i also cleared cache/history. it doesn't work in safe mode etc... so its not one of my add ons. I hadn't put any new ones on in long while, anyhow, i really really like to watch morning short video of weather instead of turning on tv, but now I can't . I would love to have some problem solving steps if anyone can provide them. I tried to "automatically add" troubleshooting information at the bottom of this page to submit it, but it takes me to "not found" so is that my computer or your website issue?

Latest version of Fx being used on Win 10, version 1803. Browser has started crashing every few minutes. Crashes even in Safe Mode. Have not had this issue until recently. NOT a Win 10 problem as all other browsers work fine for as long as I have them open. Currently using the Fx Developer Edition which is NOT crashing at all.

Not clicking the Share Data button as this is the Developer Edition.

Any ideas or solutions that are viable?

I have an issue thats been plaguing me so far for a month in Firefox; after Firefox has been in use for quite awhile (open for many days with hundreds of pages throughout those days being opened and closed) it never releases the RAM it has used, ive seen it go from being initially around 400MB at start in the first 30 minutes of being opened then after an hour it goes to around 600MB-900MB, that number is somewhat normal for me i guess (in the days of using Firefox 4 id get that usage alot on my old netbook) and then it goes to the point of insanity at random and uses a whole 2GB and once its done that its almost unusably slow and at times must be killed with the system's Task Manager.

This isnt normal. Especially because this happens when i have nothing but Firefox's homepage opened and everything else closed. Its as if all the content on the pages ive visited gets hoarded by Firefox over time and it never gets released, its almost as if Firefox is like how Windows 98 was if you kept it running for days without shutting it down.

Ive done practically everything to try and remedy this as was suggested by the kind helpful people in the linked thread.

• Ive disabled all addons i dont need
• Ive gotten rid of addons i dont need
• Ive started a completely new Firefox profile and in it use nothing but the addons i need for my day to day browsing (so nothing else beyond what i need is enabled or in Firefox in the first place)
• Ive updated flash player and most of the other plugins firefox lists
• Ive updated all of my computer's drivers and updates from Windows Update
• Ive cleared the cache and cookies and persistent data repeatedly to try and empty Firefox's used RAM
• Ive used about:memory's "reduce memory usage" option to clear out Firefox's RAM but it did nothing, if anything at times it made it go up a few megabytes or two
• As suggested i disabled 3 "jetpack" addons that i needed because they supposedly were the cause of this
• Ive enabled addons one by one to see which is the problematic one, in each time that i did that when i found the culprit and disabled the addon that i thought was the one at fault the problem would only return in a matter of time making all that effort go down the drain
• Did a crapton of virus scans
• Ive read most of Firefox's help articles on fixing it, ive done it all
• A portable install of Firefox runs just perfect, and even a fresh new profile without a single addon is perfect, its when i need addons the problems arise.
• I have run memtest, memtest86, and even the memtest that comes with Windows, all show nothing is wrong with my machine

Ever since i created a new profile my previous problem of Firefox's context menu being as slow as molasses is gone, but the rest lingers on still (albeit less i admit).

So far Im left with two seemingly related problems in forefox, in short: Firefox's RAM usage at random stays very high even if there is nothing but one tab open, heck there could only be the homepage of Firefox open and itd still do that even if i leave it like that for hours without touching it. And if Firefox is not doing that, then i get the other problem of the CPU usage having a spike every so often that freezes up Firefox for a while, when it does that Window's Task Manager lists Firefox as using around 10% CPU usage, which is alot considering ive never seen Firefox use more than 5% at worst before. It even at times simply stays like that while its idle using that CPU figure. At this point i dont know what to do anymore to be honest, i love Firefox and its addons, its what makes it unique, without them i just cant browse, i could just as well use IE (ew). Part of the reason i got a beefy computer was so that i could use Firefox instead of Opera without having to worry about its infamous memory usage (at the time i recall it being a memory hog it was in the days of Firefox 4 -14, after i used Firefox 21 things had dramatically improved since) Ive gone down to using nothing but what i ONLY need for daily browsing in the new profile and kept all other kinds of use of Firefox's addons strictly to usage inside a virtual machine (VMWare to be preice). But still the problem lingers on. Im sorry that this is long, but i just want to be detailed as possible so that this can be solved

Finally, my specs; as i have no idea if the attached troubleshooting contains it or not.

On the Add-ons Manager page/Plugins entry for Shockwave Flash appears the line "Shockwave Flash is known to be vulnerable and should be updated." This is followed by a link reading "Update Now". When I click this link, Firefox thinks for a while and then brings up a page that says (it's quite long, so this is a summary) Shockwave Flash versions have been disabled, so this page appears when you click on any of its links.

Since "Update Now" doesn't work, please send me an executable file that will fix this. Firefox says it is version 30.0.

I posted this question some time ago and since i didnt get any working solution and I still have this issue I am reposting it now. My problem is simple: I start up my computer and open Firefox. I browse the internet normally. No problem so far. But lets say I go to take a nap or I just stop browsing to do something else on the computer without closing Firefox or whatsoever. After a while I go back to browsing on Firefox (the same window with the same tabs are still open) but now no page will finish loading no matter how long i wait.

So I close Firefox and open it again. Then I get a popup error saying Firefox is still running and that i need to close it. When i close that popup then i get another error saying it was unable to load my profile. I close that and reopen Firefox. Now it loads pages normally again but but only for 1 or 2 minutes and not any more after that. I repeat the whole process and i still get the same results until i restart my computer.

I have checked for any viruses and i have none at all and there is absolutely no problem with my overall connection since no other programs have this problems only Firefox. What can i do?

Edit: Im having the issue right now and I just checked but seems like some tabs work and some dont so i really dont get it.

FF uses 100+ CPU on my otherwise totally fast up-to-date MacBook. This, despite doing all the fixes suggested, repeatedly.

It has gotten so bad that it constantly overheats my Mac, causes my fan to go on full blast non-stop, even when it's in the background, so I basically have to stop using it.

Mozilla needs to get serious and overhaul this heavy-use browser.

Firefox 43.0.1 is practically unusable, so I have been forced to migrate to Chrome.

FF43 seems to have finally gotten the memory usage problem under control, but with the price that Firefox is now unable to open more than 2 or 3 tabs before becoming unable to open any more. This happens when restoring a previous set of tabs. The first few tabs viewed open without any problems, but when I click over to the third or fourth one I start to see blank screens. After that nothing happens.

(I am using WinXP SP3. I am not using "Nvidia Forceware Network Access Manager." The past 20 versions of FF have all had memory overflow issues when many tabs were open, but they all remained usable. This version 43 is the first one which is basically unusable.)

I have Firefox 44.0.2 but this problem has been going on even on previous versions. If I click on the star it goes through the motions of placing a bookmark. I even see this animation of a star moving to the list of bookmarks. But when I go into the bookmarks they are not listed. I have tried right clicking on the page and clicking the star and I have tried it form the tool bar. Neither works. I have also renamed the places.sqlite to places.sqlite.old and that doesn't seem to do a thing.

Firefox 58.02 64 bit keeps crashing! I believe the installation is somehow corrupted. Apparently firefox was doing an update in the background when my computer lost power.

I can't type barely a word or two into any search box, or data field of any web site and it CRASHES! I tried changing the search engine to Bing, Google, Duckduckgo It will crash even any data field of any web site. I had to type this entry into Notepad and paste it in because it Firefox kept crashing ON FIREFOX'S OWN SURVEY WEB PAGE! I have tried REFRESH. I have restarted in Safe Mode and started a new session. I have updated Firefox to 58.02 (64 bit) I have turned off "check spelling as you type, just in case it was that. No difference. I have done an uninstall, reboot, and reinstall. Updated my graphics driver per one forum sugestion

When my website is viewed in firefox on a desktop, the phone number I have listed changes to an unrecognizable one. In the website is correct, ie: pages, footer, etc... but when viewed in FF, it changes.

I recently downloaded and installed some Android emulator named "Andy". Unfortunately, the .exe also installed all kinds of other Software on my Windows 7 system.

I removed most of the unwanted Software but one problem remained: A search result hijacker was part of the package. It replaces the top 4 results with some cryptic redirect links that are luckily displayed in a different font, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed at all.

I tracked the issue down to a addon in Firefox (see attached screenshot) that I cannot remove, no matter what I try.

What I tried to remove it: - I tried to remove the addon via about:config - I tried to run Firefox in safe mode and uninstall it - I tried to factory reset Firefox - I Installed Avira and made a system scan - I installed MalwareBytes and made a system scan - I check all the extension folders for addons that I do not know but can't find anything - I checked my whole system for any xpi-files but couldn't find any.

I am out of ideas. I can disable the addon but thats about it. After a while Firefox will shut itself down and the next time I start it, the addon is on again. When I resinstall FIrefox, the same thing happens. The addon is always back.

When I inspect the element it loads some invisible icon file that is supposedly located in "src="jar:file:///C:/Windows/Installer/%7BB28AF4A4-C997-4A5B-A111-FD1E65138A8D%7D/%7B02E337C0-4D70-452D-AA64-92D0A8C5D953%7D.xpi!/icon48.png"", if that helps. But the location doesn't exist on my system.

Can anyone here help me? I alread sent a problem report via the official tool.

I've been anticipating the new update I was told would be today, and it was. After I updated it to Version 28 I opened FF and it immediately crashed. I sent in a crash report, and did that three other times. So now, sadly, I'm back to version 27 that stinks as well.

Anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong with it?? I checked my addons for compatibility and said they were fine. I did nothing different except update to newest version. Not sure what else to do. I refuse to uninstall anything at this point, although that seems to be the basic "advice" given here.....it never solves my problems LOL

So, what next?? And thanks for any help.

I have Windows 7

When I try to open a Microsoft Word or xls file (not Powerpoint), I get the useless Microsoft popup: "Microsoft X has stop working. Windows is looking for a solution....". This just started the other day and I haven't made any changes to my computer. I don't know if this an Office or Firefox issue. It happens on multiple website/programs in Firefox.

Everything was hunky dory until the awful v48 update. With no other changes to the system, bookmarks are now annoyingly slow to use. If I try to bookmark this page for example, FF has to think for 2-5 seconds before I can enter tags. After saving the bookmark it freezes for another 1-3 seconds before I can do anything else. This is an awful downgrade.

There were absolutely no other changes to my setup except for the update. I didn't change any preference, install an addon, or the like. In any case, I performed a safe mode test and this makes the pauses even worse.

What else can I try? Your FF knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Movie trailers will not auto-play after the 30 second intro ad.

After the ad the video remains blank.

This problem also exists when Firefox is restarted in safe mode.

Works fine when using other browsers such as Chrome or Edge!

Please look into this!

Long time user (15-20 yrs?), I have been avoiding the "next" upgrade for several years for various reasons (hate change, fave add-ons go away, hate change, not broke-don't fix, hate change...). But I am now running into a few websites that won't permit this browser, so it may be time to move on. With heavy adblocking and tracker-blocking and my benign web browsing habits, I've not been concerned about security (never had a virus in 20 years - knock wood). It's just full functionality and slowness at this point. At this point, I see even my Classic Theme Restorer is no longer available, so I'll just have to bite the bullet on aesthetics and deal with a modern browser. However, a couple of things are unclear:

1. does 20 years of bookmark history (and remembered history) affect memory footprint. I only refer to existing bookmarks occasionally these days and may consider a full purge. Partial purge would probably be too time-consuming. Maybe even a full profile purge might be worthwhile for a true clean slate. Maybe FF has come a long way and old extensions and settings won't be necessary. I also have several about: settings that I may (or may not?) miss.

2. Are automatic updates unavoidable in newer versions? I read about "manual" but it sounded temporary.

3. The permissions on many potential add-ons I've looked at are quite unnerving... e.g many of them require full access to ALL my data (usernames and passwords!!!) and I know the function has no need for such. Who has time to investigate these fully for safety? Is there any anti-malware vetting required for add-ons to be available?

4. I know newer is generally faster, but FF has a history of growing and slowing down after upgrades. My hardware isn't getting any newer (although its more than ample for my current needs), but software tends to be developed on latest and greatest hardware. How does latest FF compare to circa V41 in memory usage?

In any case, I thought I would give the latest vesion a whirl on my old Vista laptop (which is currently at V43) and check it out before plunging in on my W7 work PC or home PC. Any answers or insight into such a big jump are much appreciated.

I am running Firefox 52.9.0 (32-bit), Win XP PRO SP3 on several computers and only my desktop has this problem.

Youtube videos embedded in other pages do not work and only blank space is displayed but if I go to Youtube the videos play correctly. This only happens in one computer. In other computers running same Firefox 52.9.0 (32-bit), Win XP PRO SP3 this problem does not happen.

I guess it might be some configuration problem.

I have used Firefox for many years and am always current, as I am with Windows 10, but the last few updates have caused major problems:

1. At times I get a red screen Firefox Critical Error which usually locks up my PC. Sometimes I can free it up with Cntl/Alt/Del, but sometimes I cannot even shut down, have to physically unplug the PC. The screen says to call a phone number for Microsoft support, but this is a 3rd-party company selling software which has somehow compromised Firefox. I reported this before but no one seems to be doing anything about it.

2.Although I have checked Block pop-up windows under Permissions, I now get suspicious pop-up windows the first time I click on many web pages. If I immediately close these, I can then use the page fine. Is there something else I need to do to block these pop-ups?
