I got a new computer (Windows 10; my old one still had Windows 7), I have the same Firefox Version 85.0.2 (64 bit), and the same options (transferred with my account) yet firefox behaves differently when downloading. In this case when I download a .dlc file (a text file) firefox ADDS the file extension .txt, in consequence jdownloader2 doesn't open it automatically. Under Windows 7 firefox does no such thing. How can I change this behavior in firefox (under Windows 10 only?)?

Hi. I am on a brand new MacBook Pro with no access to my old one, and am unable to access my old Firefox boomarks. I didn't make a back up of my Firefox bookmarks and no matter what profile I try to recreate on Firefox, can't access them.

Do you know if I have any options for recovering my old bookmarks? Firefox says it automatically creates backups of profiles, but I don't understand how to activate or access these.

I cannot tell anything about my old Firefox profile from loading about:profiles page.

I set this up Firefox up first on about the 14th -- no problem with e-mail. My mail and other shortcuts have disappeared and don't want to re-import from Edge or the older program. I don't want to sync it, just get the e-mail and find time to install a software that doesn't want to install, but has nothing to do with Firefox. I have been trying all afternoon and don't have any recourse but to go back to Windows if I can't get this resolved.

I have an existing problem because this computer was new a year ago and came with a free Office Max 1 year tech service. They remapped both the browser and this desktop and could not get it so I could access my files from both computers and save on this one. We were going thru my daughter's cancer, husband's stroke and my arm surgery and I couldn't come downstairs often. Finally called them one last time and seemed to work, but next day was a mess and I couldn't even get on the internet. I did get that straightened out and moved to Firefox. Worked fine until we had a storm and Microsoft got in on the reset after the snow storm. Now Firefox won't let me have my mail on this computer without syncing -- has always worked fine. Actually if I send a file to myself that is too big, it just went into the sent box and when I could get downstairs I could open it, work on it and send back the same way.

I do have a friend who can help me reset the computer when this covid thing is over and he has time to get here as he is quite busy with Boeing computers and our church computers-- I'm afraid to reset the computer without being sure all my card and WP programs are saved and will work. In the meantime, if I can just get this darn e-mail set up, I'll be satisfied.

I've noticed after an update ( Win) that Firefox will not remove non of the existing maps( installed ver).

But however when I do a update in Win ( still have Win 7) I go to Control panel->Programs->Add/remove programs. And do an removal via win add/removal tool.

But as I assumes that Firefox will create a library in win registery. But my point is if I can manualy delete the exsisting maps( librarys). Or Do I have to make a complete formating of my HDD?

But when I install Firefox at my Pc I have a separate partition at my HDD,to wich I install Firefox. Just in case not to infect or get rid of my existing installed programs. For an ex at my C:/ I only have installed my OS (Win)+sometimes Office.

In order to mitigate supply chain attacks it would be useful to have a checksum published so that we can verify the file has downloaded appropriately. This should be included within the release notes.

Have tried repeatedly to download firefox VPN - all I get is form to fill out with my info, which I do...and then a little red thing when I try to click on the submit button....have tried several times, same result... goes nowhere.

I have no experience with having different browsers on the same computer and want to know if there are any conflicts or problems before I download a second browser.

Updating to new version of Fire Fox, my home page was changed to eco Start Page and my default search was a yahoo Eco Start Page . Why did this happen? I had trouble correcting this and how can this happen to FF? I thought your browser was secure.

there are no compatible versions of my add ons or extensions and i have lost a boat load of tabs i had saved and i want them back so i want to go back to the previous version of firefox...i now have the new 17.0 and not happy i lost all my info and settings

I have just upgraded to Firefox 17 and found that Norton 360 "Login Assistant" (formally named Identity Safe) no longer works. It does not fill in the username and password fields. It worked very well and did all the right things when I was using Firefox 16. There is probably a quick fix but in the meantime I have had to revert to version 16. Looking forward to the problem being resolved.

I live in Mountain View and use Google WiFi which is provided by Google for the City of Mountain View. For the past few months, they have been having a BIG problem with the corruption of downloads. Even teensy tiny ones. Perhaps you've heard about it since you're also in Mountain View. They have not responded to repeated posts from the forum... I have an iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and I haven't been able to update my software. I go to Lane Medical Library at Stanford to use the Windows machines there. I load whatever standalone software that I can onto a jump drive and install it at home. Unfortunately, some sites (like Apple and maybe even Mozilla!) recognize the computer you're on and only allow you to download software compatible with the machine that you are actually sitting at. This means that I can't reinstall Safari because I can't get a copy of it. And it looks like I might not be able to install Firefox 17.0 either. At least, that's what I'm trying to find out. "We've made some educated guesses about your current browser and operating system." See what I mean? So when I go to the library, will I be able to download a copy of Firefox 17.0 for the Mac and install it on my computer at home? Thanks!

After updating from 16 to 17 some of the extensions that are crucial for me stopped working, got disabled and got listed as incompatible with 17.0. Now when I try to toggle the extensions.checkCompatibility.17.0 boolean into the “false” position, it readjusts itself into “true” after each restart, making it impossible to force those extensions as compatible.

Why is this happening and what can I do to make it stay at “false”?

My Macbook Pro is running 10.7.5 I got an update notice in Firefox and tried to update to v. 17.

I. When I try to move the download to the Applications folder:

(1) If I choose "Replace," I get the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."

(2) If I choose "Keep Both Files," I get the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0)."

II. Version 16 no longer works:

1. If I try to open it now, I get the error message: "You can't open the application Firefox.app because it may be damaged or incomplete."

2. If I try to throw out the damaged app, I get the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because the item “Firefox.app” is locked."

Can someone help me with this? Thanks!
