hi,

I have a new install of firefox (78.7.1esr) on a new Apple Mac (10.15.7 Catalina). I used sync to sync bookmarks from an ubuntu install (85.0.1) onto the Mac.

The bookmarks arrived. They are visible on the bookmarks toolbar, bookmarks menu, and bookmarks / show all bookmarks. I can add new bookmarks using drag and drop, or by the bookmarks menu options. These bookmarks can be seen in the Bookmarks / Show All Bookmarks menu. But they do not appear in the bookmarks toolbar. It's as if there are 2 sets both started from the same sync.

• Bookmarks added by drag and drop visible through the toolbar
• Those added with add bookmark or show all bookmarks within the toolbar folder do not appear on the toolbar.

I've now got what looks like 2 sets that are drifting out of sync on the same latptop.

I have a problem not ble to add or remove bookmarks so I refrshed firefox hoping tht wouls fix the problem but it hasn't, still can't add or remove bookmarks so what's next. James Geddie

What a tragedy!

My notebook just crashed! But being an IT person, I was completely confident that everything being in the cloud! I have nothing to worry about! That was right except for Firefox! I logged in to my account turned on sync Password came back, my containers also came back! But bookmarks completely disappeared! NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!

I tried profile thing there was 2 profiles in the new installations! None have any bookmarks what a mess!! How did Firefox fail so miserably in such a basic thing! I'm speechless!

And what made things worse that there is absolutely no way to contact anyone at Firefox to ask, or at least to express how outragous and incompetent is not being able to retrieve bookmarks on a synced account! This stupid local or different installation concept!! Oh my god who came with such stupid idea! And why its only for bookmarks!

I'm sure there should be away, as my bookmarks also disappeared from all other devices mobile and desktops alltogether!!

Are there any smart solution for such very stupid premetive problem! As my bookmarks literally in hundreds!

Laptop Hp Spectre x360 Windows 10 home.

I was having some issues with my bookmark button in the url/address bar working improperly, which wasn't the first time. However I've forgotten the fix I've used a few times in the past. I don't mean the button that exists in the gray border outside the bar, I mean the one that sat inside the bar next to the three dot option button. Specifically the one that would light up to indicate that a page was bookmarked and, when clicked, would show what it was saved as in your bookmarks and in which bookmark folder location.

The button was no longer allowing me to edit a bookmark I had recently saved when I had clicked on it, simply lighting up to show it had been saved. When I right clicked it, it gave an option to hide it and I clicked it in a rush thinking I could toggle it back on and now it's gone. Again, this is not the first time I've had this issue but it happens far apart enough I've forgotten how to fix it.

For now I have an extension that somewhat imitates this specific bookmark feature, whereas it will light up to indicate a page I'm viewing is currently saved to my bookmarks and I am able to quick save via clicking it, but it's a cheap imitation of the real thing. It gives me no option to edit the bookmark from there nor does it tell me in what location a currently viewed page I have bookmarked is located.

If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. All guides, tips, and help listed on Firefox's forums, help pages, and web searches are several updates behind or years old and absolutely worthless. Please and thanks.

The bookmarks on Firefox not working right (ver85.0.2). I can't rename, or edit, move, change the address. Nothing work right. Nothing work right Firefox (ver85.0.2) on win7Pro 64Bit Someone who know why? Thanks

I would like to select a different Bookmarks Toolbar on different Computers. Currently there seems to be only the one root level Toolbar folder. Is there a way to have multiple of those and still have sync work correctly?

I am currently using someone elses computer because mine wont connect to the internet for some reason. But that computer should be getting fixed soon, so I wanted to take the bookmarks from this computer and be able to view them on my own later. Also, I fear I may have added too many bookmarks and add-ons because Firefox has been running extremely slowly lately. So I was going to give it a reset, which would result in losing everything. I can simply get the add-ons again but I want to be able to keep my bookmarks. I've been using an add-on called Session Sync, which bookmarks every tab you have open all at once. However, when I went to export those bookmarks, it says: "Saved session are stored as bookmarks. It's recommended to use Firefox Account to sync your bookmarks. Currenly you can only use Firefox Bookmark Manager (CTRL + SHIFT + B) to export/import all your bookmarks (which includes all Session Sync saved data). Session Sync detects automatically all updated bookmarks after an import."

So, I did what it said and exported my bookmarks but I signed in to my firefox account first. Perhaps that is what messed things up. Because now, every single bookmark I saved individually (not using Session Sync) is gone. When I look at my bookmarks, I see things I do not even recognize. I probably bookmarked them months ago, so I don't remember. There is certainly no trace of pages I have bookmarked recently, including today. When I take a look at the exported bookmarks, it's the same thing. None of the recent indivual bookmarks are there are absolutely none of the Session Synced bookmarks are there at all. So what happened to them? Why didn't Session Sync's bookmarks get included in the export like it said it would? Could have it been because I signed into my Firefox account which hadn't been used in a long time, so it swapped out the bookmarks on this computer with the ones from my account? I thought I'd try signing into this computers owner's account and hope things go back to how they were before but neither of us even new she had one or remember the password. I was going to reset the password but then it says we may lose all the bookmarks, which would defeat the purpose. But it only says it's a possibility. Is that true? Is there a good chance I will not lose them?

All I want is my bookmarks back and to be able to keep the ones from Session Sync. I did not expect this to turn into such a pain.

All was well. Then suddenly two, three, and more bookmarks and folders began to spontaneously duplicate. Some as many as ten or more times. Some of the folders are empty, while others with the same name have the links. What is happening and how do I stop it?

Started Firefox up this morning and my bookmarks are missing... attempted to restore and receive an error that the bookmark backup can't not be restored. I tried to restore several of the backed up bookmark files and they errorred.

I can't even save a bookmark either to even recreate my bookmarks... Any help is greatly appreciated.

I updated to the latest v of Firefox, now my bookmark folder dropdown menus open to the right of the screen, not the left as before. How do I restore the previous behavior? I can't find a clear command anywhere.

Hi My bookmarks are not working when I click on them nothing happens. I've been using Firefox successfully for a number of years so I can't understand why they have suddenly stopped taking me to the bookmarked page! Please help

For some reason, my long column (about 1,000 bookmarks) have an intolerable indent space/empty area to the left of each entry...about 2-3 in long and for all bookmarks, so that I have to stretch out the names and reduce my main viewer window as a result.

   IF I try to just move the whole lot leftward, that cuts out the "bookmarks" with the black star as well as search bookmarks entry bar.  A long time ago, I thought it had a left right scroll tab at the very bottom.  All support entries talk about moving the whole column to the right side of the screen-what I need is 1) an ability to move all bookmarks titles to the left edge as much as possible while keeping orientation with the top "star/bookmarks".
   I do use a zoom button for browsing the web, but reducing screen size has nothing to do with the overly fat/wide bookmarks area-there has got to be a way to put it on a diet!!!

BONUS: if anyone knows on a Mac running High Sierra or any other os, how the heck do you increase size of other menus that don't respond to zoom (command + or _)..even ones not on Firefox? Any recommended zoom apps for menus intrinsic to macs in general?

Suddenly I have Globe Like icons preceding my bookmark listings in bookmarks tool bar,recently bookmarked, other bookmarks that are preventing me from opening any of the listings. Please, what to do ? many thanks
