I'm trying to restore my bookmarks after reinstalling Windows 10. They were saved in a windows.old file on my Passport. I used the Import and Backup button, selected Restore, and choose my file. It's a json file. It then gave me an error message "unsupported file type."
BTW, the file ends in .jsonlz45dd510a6. It's not recognized as a json file, so I had choose 'all files" and then highlighted it to select it, and received the above error message. I then tried making a copy but omitting the letters and numbers after .jason, and tried using that, but got an error message "unable to process the backup file."

I recently had to wipe my MacBook Air clean thus prompting me to download Firefox - version 70.01 (64-bit). I set up all of my work websites, history, passwords, emails, etc., but every time I close the browser and try to open it again, nothing is saved. I've tried several times and I am at a loss. Yes, I have created a Firefox account, and even this won't leave me logged in if I close the browser. I have to start over every time. Any advice?

I hate it when a Bookmark disappears that is an important one and takes a lot of time to try to find it. I don't remember IE11 having this problem. This shouldn't recur. How can I quickly find a Bookmark folder titled "Glyphosate" that is a subfolder of a Bookmark folder titled, "Herbicides, Surfactants, Etc" in the parent folder titled "From Internet Explorer"? If I do a search for the word Glyphosate, it appears to find the individual bookmarks but if I hover over it or right click on it, no path is shown. So I have no idea where the Glyphosate folder is in my Bookmarks.

Every now and then, a Bookmark folder disappears in Firefox on a computer using the latest version of Windows 10! I have reported this problem but it still is occurring. I have important folders that I do NOT want to disappear. I finally saw saw one disappear (normally I don;t see it happen). I saw it disappear and hit Ctrl +Z and it reappeared briefly and then it disappeared for good. I took some time trying to find it but could not in an Exported Bookmarks file.

This has only happened recently which makes me think it could be the most rceent update to Firefox that has caused the issue.

If you want more people stick to firefox you should seriously work on an easy solution for newbies to import their old bookmarks. I`ll give it 24 hours before I switch to google chrome....

Using a list-style-image to replace the bookmark library folder icons & the subfolder icons that always show in the main bookmark pane (if the selected folder has subfolders). Every code I've tried *ALSO ADDS* the subfolder icons under *ALL* visible columns in the bookmark pane.
I used this (simplest I could think of) & a few others - same result. Maybe it will require specifying the unwanted columns (or the ID) don't get the image applied to them? I haven't found a way to inspect the library - don't know the html / CSS names, where there shouldn't be folder icons.

I have a new MacBook and have restored most info from my old MacBook via Time Machine, but not Firefox. I downloaded a fresh copy of Firefox. I would like to get the (many many) bookmarks that I had on my old MacBook. I have a Time Machine backup from that computer. However, I can't find the Firefox bookmarks. Per the instructions below, in my Time Machine backup I looked in Library > Application Support, but found no FIREFOX folder there. Can anyone tell me where to find my profile > bookmarks?

Click the Finder icon in the dock. On the menu bar, click the Go menu, hold down the option or alt key and select Library. A window will open containing your Library folder. Open the Application Support folder, then open the Firefox folder, and then the Profiles folder. Your profile folder is within this folder. If you only have one profile, its folder would have "default" in the name.

I have split my default Firefox into two separate profiles, one for me, one for my partner. In the default profile, we spent lots of time organizing the bookmarks into two folders, one for each of us. Then I made two copies of the profile folder, named them, and created new profiles by editing the profiles.ini file. This worked fine. We now have a working profile each, and the original default profile as a backup. So each of us opens our new Firefox profile and wants to delete the bookmarks that are not ours. We delete the folder. But all the bookmarks are still there. What has gone wrong here? Surely we don't have to delete them one at a time?

My bookmarks and folders with bookmarks have started to disappear. I think it started when I added my cellphone to sync. I have over 3000 bookmarks, so it will take me many hours to try to recover these from an older backup, because I can't do a direct restore, because I've added more bookmarks since I discovered they started to disappear for me . And I have all my bookmarks lying in the "Bookmark menu" Why is this happening?
I've tried to solve it by importing the older backup which is an html file, but it settles as its own "bookmark menu", and using "cut and paste" all these bookmarks take too long, and Firefox's built-in editor for bookmarks is a joke. Have also looked through a lot of different tips here to find a solution, but find nothing that helps. Is there any "Bookmark manager" program that can be used?
