it worked ok then just wont work now and all my plug-ins are up to date. it just wont play from abc Ivew web site. It will on google and internet explorer and on my samsung tablet.

somehow I am in private browsing mode permanently. When I click on file ans go to 'new private window", I get a new window but no little mask in the upper right. I understand this means I am always in private browsing mode. How do I turn this feature off so I can open a private window only when I need one?

Firefox Refresh 'bookmark backups' folder is empty. Had to change profile.ini to profile.iniOLD to circumvent 'profile is missing or inaccessible' problem. Tried jscher2000's suggested procedure for reverting to old profile but didn't understand 'semi-randomized name' within Old Firefox Data folder, which seems to be incomplete, as stated 'bookmark backups' folder is empty and fool that i am did not manually back up my bookmarks (years of research). i thought when i ran time machine they backed up automatically. is there any way to recover bookmarks?

Whenever I try to maximize a Youtube video, nothing happens. I click on the "maximize button" but there is no response.

I can watch Youtube videos in the "minimized" and "theatrical" view just fine. I can watch videos on other websites on fullscreen as well. When I switch to another web browser, like Chrome, I can watch Youtube videos in maximized view just fine.

I deleted my appdata files without thinking, and then cleared my recycle bin. When I opened up firefox again all of my bookmarks were gone. I used piriform recuva to find my deleted files, and recovered the ten bookmark backup JSON files. When I try to restore my bookmarks I get the message 'unable to process the backup file'. The files are 95kb in size, but when I open them up using notepad they're empty, however, when using the restore tool it says '480 items', which I'm assuming is the amount of bookmarks I had, which implies that the firefox can see the data. The same happens for all ten backups I recovered.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just installed Windows 8.1 to my computer, and I am currently using the latest version of Firefox. I've noticed that after I've used the browser for a while, when I am watching a stream/video, or scrolling/clicking through pages, the browser stalls temporarily for a second.

The thing that stops the choppiness is restarting Firefox (both with and without addons). While the browser turns choppy, I tried other browsers like IE to see if it applies to that as well, and it behaves more smoothly.

After a while, it gets really annoying having to reset exit and start up the browser, every time it starts to get choppy. Any guesses as to what could cause it?

The icons on the top of the Facebook page are missing. I cleared the cache for that page, Allow pages to select their own fonts is checked, and safe mode does not fix the problem either.

Recently in this week, when I open up Firefox, it automatically opens up a new tab and loads Bing. It originally only loads up my previous tabs, and only activates the one I was showing last time. It still does pretty much the same thing, with the one I was reading on my last visit activated, but it then opens up Bing. I didn't pay attention to it the first time, just got suspicious since I never used Bing(kinda hate M$ to begin with) so that wouldn't be my last site visited. I did checked and it is the real Bing and not a phishing site of a virus, and simply closed the tab. I started to get annoyed by the third time, so I got into about:config and deleted all the results that returned Bing. Just two of those and none seems to matter at all to my current situation. I made sure that google is my only search provider, closed the browser and restarted it, Bing didn't pop up that time so I thought I'm fine. But the next day, same thing happened again, and don't have any results in about:config with Bing. My homepage is a blank page, and my new tab page is the Firefox default one(with google and some of the sites I pinned. I have some plug-ins and add-on installed, but none are related to Bing, and I installed all of them quite long ago, so it doesn't seem to be a recent plugin that screwed me. And no, I am not stupid enough to have Bing bar installed and not noticed it.

I did a search in my about:support page, and it returned no "Bing" results, and the "Search" results returned 2, Tineye and google scholar. The only Microsoft addons I have is sharepoint and lync.

This thread on the forum, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1038882, seems to be the closest to my situation, but none of the anwsers helped. If I open another Firefox window, it goes to the Firefox start page.

Firefox 37.0.2 sometimes freezes on a Windows XP Professional machine when I attempt to access my extensive Bookmarks Library. This is a new issue. I tried refreshing Firefox, but that did not help.

Every time is update Firefox (which happens every 2 weeks or so), the ability to use Roboform2Go on a flash drive gets broken. Sometimes updating Roboform2Go fixes this, but usually not. Sometimes reverting to an older version of Firefox works, but then I am constantly encouraged to update to the latest version. Today Firefox v 37.0.2 was working with Roboform2Go v 7-9-12-2, and then suddenly crashed. When I restarted Firefox, the Roboform2Go toolbar was gone. When I ejected and restarted Roboform2Go, the toolbar was still gone. When I shut down and restarted the PC and the restarted Firefox & Robofmr2Go, still no toolbar. I like Firefox, but I can't live with Roboform2Go. Can't Firefox learn to play nicely with Roboform2Go?

Recently the BBC revamped its News pages. When viewed on a Desktop PC with a screen resolution forced down to the equivalent of 1366x768 the smaller fonts look sharp.

However, if I view the same page on a laptop with a screen resolution of 1366x768 the fonts are distorted and broken. I have combined two screenshots to show the problem.

On the left of the image below is a closeup of the laptop view and on the right is the same page when viewed on a desktop with the screen resolution altered to give a vertical res of 768.

I tried to upload an image but the hourglass just kept rotating. I have checked the font settings for both PCs are they are identical. So are the visual settings for Windows 7 on both PCs.

I tried searching to see if others have reported the problems I see but couldn't find anything. I'm baffled as to why the BBCsite would look so bad. I hope you can assist.

I cannot access the secured site https://www.paypal.com. Whenever I try to load the site, the following prompt appears (see the attachment), with no possibility to add an exception. My system is Microsoft Windows 8.1 x64 Edition Build 9600, I'm using Mozilla Firefox 37.0.2, I'm also using Kaspersky Internet Security, version 15.0.0.463 (b). I'll be grateful for any assistance with this, thank you,

I can't get cbsnews.com videos to play. No errors, just a blank black screen. Their Help tells me to install Adobe Flash Player. (I had Shockwave Player installed and thought that was the same thing - wrong!) I installed the NPAPI version of Flash Player with no problems, but the videos still don't work. The Add-ons manager doesn't show the Flash Player as installed, but if I click on "check if plug-ins up-to-date" it shows Flash Player installed and up-to-date. What am I missing here? Thanks.

I have JBL speakers for my computer. i did something and now they wont work when i am on any page in firefox. they work for the computer, internet explorer. ? i updated mozilla firefox - but the problem is still there. not sure how to fix it. Liz

When logging out of Hotmail. The page loaded is directed to MSN, which I don't want. I want it to default to my home page. There used to be a user script loaded automatically when using GreaseMonkey add-on. This made Mozilla go to my default home page. i.e Google. Now I can't stop MSN loading. Where has the user script gone? It used to work fine but seems to have disappeared with the Mozilla upgrade.
