In Every 7 days I have to update Firefox and it takes about 10 minutes to update and it takes another 10 minutes to get back to my working state also we have to continuously update flash player which is also annoying. In Chrome we don't need to update flash player as it is Inbuilt in it.Also its updates comes less frequently and it takes less time to update chrome. I admire the work done by the Mozilla foundation from the time of Netscape and I don't want you to be behind Google Chrome in terms of innovation and user-experience.

Hi All, May I please ask for your help. I am wondering if anyone out there have this issue. I am currently running Firefox build 46.0b5 and I have notice that flash playback does not work.

From the troubleshooting point of view this is what i have done.

  1. Uninstalled and reinstalled all the Adobe plugin
  2. Started Firefox in Safemode and tried to access a flash website however I still get blank page and nothing happens.
  3. Lastly i also changed the setting in Adobe Flash player and removed protected mode and yet still i can't do a playback of flash content.

I also confirmed this matter with another computer which recently been upgraded to windows 10. Is this a known issue?

Running the same test with IE or chrome works just fine!!?

Hello! There's a website I visit (http://www.gazzetta.it) which uses a very shitty flash video player that is often really slow too (I'm on linux).

I've noticed that putting flash on "Never activate" makes it use the html5 player (which is so much better to me), but I'd like to leave the flash player as "click to play" since I need it on certain sites and I don't want to go to the website preferences to activate flash every time I need.

The thing is that if I disable flash only for that site, in the permissions window, it doesn't use the html5 player but instead I get the "This plugin is disabled" message.

How can I make the website use the html5 player while still keeping the Flash Plugin option "Ask to Activate"?

It just randomly started to happen, on certain websites, or part of the sites, the browser freezes for 2-3 minuts, sometimes ending with a script error message, but more often just freeze and keep on going for ever.

I tried to upgrade from 45.0.1 to beta versions, with same outcome. I tried to clean all junk and cookies, even reseted the browser and tried with a new profile, same outcome. The strange thing is that I tried with a clean installed Waterfox x64 and same issues there.

There are no problems with the x86 Firefox.

Is it possible to control syncing one way from the desktop to the cloud, or from the cloud to the desktop? I am using three computers, - with the same version of FF, (currently version 46.0b8), both in Windows 7 and Xubuntu 14.04. I ask because I am loosing important bookmarks and settings. Or, end up with old obsolete bookmarks deleted in one version mixed with the new ones.

Hello, I have a problem with gifs and short videos on Firefox. Gifs on 9gag, or short animation on tumblr won't load, they appear as still images. If i try to open video in seperate tab, it only shows controls but isn't loading. No crashes or error messages. Problem didn't occure after any specific update or event. The only thing I'v done was trying to install some burning CD software like ashampoo and alcohol 120% to burn gift for a friend, so this might be some malware related error cause license on Kaspersky is expired for over 3 months. Everything wokrs fine in Edge and Explorer. Steps i have taken so far:

- Tried to refresh pages without cache (shift+left mouse button)

- Refreshed Firefox

- Launched Firefox in safe mode

- Reinstalled Firefox, Java, FlashPlayer and graphical drivers from Nvidia with clean installation using RevoUninstaller

- Installed beta version of Firefox

- Installed grease monkey script from this topic: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1114110 and tried to add 9gag to it.

- Checked media.something keys in about:config from various sites and topics revolving around this issue (none were set as in said topics, everything was on default)

- Installed QuickTime and VLC for codecs

Despite everything, things like this: http://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/aMGWZKW_460svwm.webm won't ever work. Can someone please help me? I love using FF and as much as i like to try Edge, i don't want to leave my favourite adblocker and ghostery.

This article [1] has confused me, specifically:

> if somebody were able to get your username and password, all they could get is your encrypted data records. They would then need to know your passphrase to decrypt your data.

Presumably the username/password is the Firefox Sync account username/password? But does that mean that Firefox's master password is the Weave passphrase?

I have a strong account password, but a weak master password because I assumed that the account password would be used to encrypt sync data and the master password was only there to thwart attackers with local physical access. Was I wrong?

How do I open an external link in an active private window?

When I open a link from another application and I am using Private Mode in Firefox -- and the private window is the most recent active window in Firefox -- how can I make firefox open the link in the private window?

To clarify by example: Firefox is my default browser. I am browsing in private mode and I want to open links from an email in my OS's mail client so they open in the private window (ideally in a new tab in the private window), not a non-private window. At the moment, external links open in a non-private window no matter what.

There was a time that Firefox would do this, but it does not do it any more. I think I may have killed this function the last time I reset Firefox. Is it possible that I had changed a setting in about:config to make Firefox behave how I want it to? If so, which setting is it!

FWW. I have tried changing the following preferences in about:config with no success:

browser.link.open_newwindow.overtide.external browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction

I've also found something like this mentioned in bug reports, but I'm not sure if I understand the resolution. If I do, then the resolution is that opening in a non-private window no matter what is intentional and there is no desire to add an option to change this behavior in Firefox. However, what seems to be missing from these reports is the fact that the Private window is the active window. It seems to me that links should always open in the active window, even if the active window is a private window, if the browser is commanded to do so. Otherwise, the browser is not behaving as expected.

Technical info:

Mac OS 10.11.4 Firefox 46.0b11 (yes, the beta channel)

In privacy settings I have:

"Accept thrid party cookies -> Always"
  "Keep until -> they expire"

I do have clear history when firefox closes, and I do not use password manager.

But cookies are never saved. I can look at my cookies in privacy section of options after logging in to several sites and see all of the cookies there, but when I close the browser and open it again, all the cookies are gone!

This works on my Win 7 Desktop but not on my new MS Surface Pro with Win 10 pro installed.

Running in safe mode did not fix anything, and firefox has no problem connecting to the internet. It just will not save cookies!!
