In Firefox 63, when the Most Recently Used tab switching is selected, and when using it by Ctrl-Tab, there is an overlay and I need to press Enter to apply.

Is it possible to remove the preview? (There no such thing like browser.ctrlTab.previews in about:config) Or why I need to press Enter?

Hi, I have the latest version of Firefox 67.0 installed on my computer. I open a new tab and connect to my gmail account. Then I open a private browsing tab. A new tab is showing like any other regular normal tab. I type google.com in the address bar. I see that the supposedly private browsing tab is connected to my gmail account. This should not be the case. Is there any option or setting I should switch on or off in order to retrieve a private browsing that does not behave like a normal tab?

Thank you for your help!

Ublock global filtering of 3rd party domains, when accessing someother domain, but partial whitelist of 3rd party domain when accessed directly- Is it possible?

Suppose i want to access 123newss.com, which uses technology from t.com I create a ublock "global-filter" of the domain t.com, that blocks loading of t.com at 123newss.com and everywhere else. For some reason i'm a frequent user of t.com, and whenever i try to visit t.com i have to temporary unblock the blocking of t.com. This creates a lot of friction since i'm a frequent user of this url. If i create a ublock/whitelist of domain t.com then ublock allows every tracker to load at t.com, eg. t.com visit triggers loading of 21trackers.com.

The idea is - Block tracking urls globally, but allow auto whitelisting of urls when visited directly. Analogy: prevent embedded yt videos from loading in arbitrary website, but allow when you have visited 125yt.com, without also allowing every other 21trackers.com domains at 125yt.com from loading. Sounds like containerization or "cross-site" url loading block. Is it possible or am i missing something?

My Top Sites works well if there is a short name under the tile or I recognize the thumbnail. In other cases I see something like "Websu..." as the title. Hover over that and I should see a tooltip with the long name completed.

Is it possible for Firefox to put tooltips for when the name ends in "...?"

Is there another work-around I can use -- create a thumbnail that better identifies the site is one that comes to mind. Rename the site with a shorter name?

Thank you.

The website https://www.finanznachrichten.de collects financial news from publishers all over the world. Some news are just a link to the publisher's website - this works still fine. Some news can be read directly on the webpage fully. But some articles are NOT displayed fully - only the beginning of the text is displayed followed by a link "Den vollständigenArtikel lesen...." (in english: "Read the full article..." ) This link leads to the full article on the publisher's website. My problem is: This link is NOT DISPLAYED anymore in firefox in all news of this kind on this website. But is was normally displayed in older versions of firefox. By the way: the webmaster of finanznachrichten.de wrote that THEY didn't apply any changes!!!

I just update firefox each time a new release comes up and I always keep all settings as they were before. In other browsers (IE for example) it is ALSO still displayed!!! So my idea is that a setting in firefox prevents those links from being displayed(?) Is that possible and if yes: Which settings do affect the displaying of web-links? (ad block is not the reason by the way - I verfified that) Here an example news: https://www.finanznachrichten.de/nachrichten-2020-04/49525168-nestle-aktie-ein-klarer-gewinner-503.htm Below the text other browsers display the mentioned full-article-link but firefox doesn't anymore. Any idea in the community?

I occasionally double click to drag an open window to a new location. When I double click in the top bar of the firefox browser, any open windows are put away, not closed...which destroys the link, but put away like clicking on the minus sign in the upper right blue bar that is next to the "fill page" icon and the red X that destroys the link. This may be a property of MS8.1 POS or it might be Firefox. I am sick and tired of having to open all these windows one by one each time my finger "stutters" producing a rapid double click. I have tried changing single click and double click response delays, but that does not help either. The morons that wrote MS8.1 load the keystrokes instantly without checking timing. Also, does anyone know of an operating system that emulates the MS NT system without all the F------ "features" that pervade later OSes??? Many Thanks for your suggestions!!!

Is there a similar performing alternative to Google's Widevine on Firefox? If not, would I find one on a different browser?

Since I must add something in this box I'll just explain that Google is the most egregious violator of privacy and I want nothing to do with them

My HTML-file contains the following code: ... <main>

<h1>Headline</h1>
Some Text

... </main>

When I change "main" to "section", the font-size changes from 36px to 24px (this is reported by webdevelopper), but only for "Headline", for "Some Text" font-size remains unchanged. In CSS I have "body {font-size1: 1.1em;}", no other rules for font-size.

Can You explain this and/or give help? Thanks Andreas

In my options, I have "Clear history when Firefox closes" set (about:preferences#privacy tab). This normally works fine...

except...

if the reason for closing Firefox is to do an update via Help | About Firefox. This has been a problem at least going back to Firefox 57. I specifically reproduced this a few minutes ago for 66.0 --> 66.0.1 , Windows.

Reproduce as follows: Visit a few sites Ensure that about:preferences#privacy | Clear history when Firefox closes is checked Update using Help | About Firefox, then click the "Restart Now" button After the update is applied and Firefox restarts, look at History | Recently Closed Tabs; you will see those sites from the last session. Similarly, you will see cookies

General comment: I can think of few times it isn't MORE essential to clear out history or cookies (if that's the user's choice) than when applying an update. After all, many updates are required by of security vulnerabilities, many from unknowing/hijacked sites!

I suspect that the problem here is the order in which things are getting done for an update, or that the update routine just ignores normal shutdown/restart protocols entirely and does its own thing independent of user settings. If the latter is the case and it "really needs to be" that way (I doubt it — that's a common refrain I've been hearing for decades with complex programs and I have not once come across an instance in which it was more than a convenience for the programmers), there should at minimum be a flag or warning that "When Firefox was restarted, it did not do a normal shutdown. If your settings require certain actions on shutdown (like clearing history or cookies), that may not have occurred."
