So I'm trying to lock the preferences on the privacy & security options. I currently have a .js file named autoconfig.js in my "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref" I also have mozilla.cfg in my "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox".

When I go to the about:config however it is not greyed out or locked in anyway. I was wondering if anyone could spot what I'm doing wrong.

Yes my File name extensions is on.

Somewhere, I clicked a box and I deeply regret it. Every since then every time I turn the computer off or it goes to sleep I have to login to Google and Microsoft apps. Logging in to the computer is fine, but any time I use google search I have to log into my google account. All day long I'm logging into my google account. the same with online microsoft apps; onedrive, word, onenote, etc. I used to have to log in to these things only after turning the computer off. Now it's a constant state of affairs. Help.

Unfortunately I just did a refresh to Firefox and even more unfortunately I had no idea that fixing a slow opening of Firefox would erase all my very valuable bookmarks that I really need! There should be warnings posted as to what a refresh will really do before being allowed to click on the refresh button.

I have tried following videos on you tube to restore my bookmarks, but they are hard to follow and I have had no luck with them. I need a step by step video process with audio instructions so I can retrieve said bookmarks!

Please, any help will be greatly appreciated !!! Thanks, D.

Since updating to 78.0 I cannot download pdf files from magazinelib.com. I can do so on Microsoft Edge and on Android, but not Firefox. I get the save/open/etc. popup; no matter which I click the file simply cycles and never downloads. Other sites seem unaffected. I'm using Firefox 78.0.2 on Manjaro Linux and on Windows 10. The same happens for both OS.

A few days ago (not at the latest update, but maybe the one before that?), the behaviour regarding PDF files changed.

Before: When clicking on a link to a PDF file, it was opened in Firefox. When I downloaded it and then clicked on the file in the "Downloads" section, the local, downloaded file was opened in my system's PDF viewer. After: After downloading, when I click on the file in the "Downloads" section, the local, downloaded file is opened in Firefox again.

The system default for opening PDF files has not changed, i.e., when I open a PDF file locally from the file system, it opens in the PDF viewer, and not in Firefox.

Changing how PDF files should be opened in "Settings - Content" does change the behaviour for both cases simultaneously. Is there any way to change this back to the old behaviour?

So let's say that I have a bookmark in my Firefox bookmarks sidebar with this as the 'Location': file:///E:/Name%20Of%20File.txt

If I were to click that bookmark, the contents of that text file will appear in the browser which allows me to read the contents of the file.

I want to be able to left-click that bookmark from the Firefox bookmarks sidebar or right-click it and select from a context menu and have that .txt file launch in a separate Notepad window, as in launching Notepad as an external application separate from Firefox.

Is that possible with some tweaking and hacking or whatever?

As of about a week ago I have been unable to connect to https://weather.com using Firefox 78.0.1 64bit on Windows 10 Pro. As far as I have found in my regular browsing this is the only website with this problem; other websites open properly. The problem with https://weather.com occurs no matter how I try to connect - selecting a bookmark that worked in the past or typing directly in the address bar. If I am using an empty blank window what I see is a window that remains blank. The name that I typed in shows in the address bar but there is no padlock icon and no trackers shield. I am attaching a screen shot.

If I open Firefox in a private window I AM able to connect to https://weather.com as I could before in the ordinary window. I am also able to connect to https://weather.com using other browsers.

Any suggestions as to what has happened and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated!
