Without using Sync, what is the easiest way to transfer my Firefox passwords from my old Mac (running OS X 10.6.8) to a new Mac (running 10.15.1)?

Is it as simple as moving the old logins.json and key3.db files from the old Firefox Profile folder to the new Firefox Profile folder?

Can I copy the old Firefox Profiles folder and replace the Profile folder in the new Mac with a copy (to get all my bookmarks & passwords)?

Too many functions have been lost. I have a more up to date laptop but I'm not going to update the OS on my main desktop computer because too many other software programs would need to be updated - such as video editing and Adobe programs - which work fine as they are. Sadly my browser in future will have to be Safari or Chrome, which work fine with the current OS.

Up to few days ago I had no problem in sync-ing my bookmark and pw btwn two firefox, one on the old mac machine (firefox ESR 45.9 ... from here called ESR) and the other on the new mac running Mojave (and the latest FF). Today I realized that recent bookmarks were not loaded on the ESR; I checked in the preference/Sync and I was apparently logged. Because I wanted to "force" the sync I log-out and then tried to log-in. The I realized that it was impossible to log in again because "no connection available. You need internet to log in". Of course ESR has no problem in whatsover other page, just in the login page. Final step was to see if th the FF/sync was working in the new mac and then the number of connected devices to this account: the message I got is that ESR associated but the last time it was active was one month ago. Meaning that ESR lost the ability to sync (w/o any alert) one month ago. It is just me or the sync is deprecated for good in ESR machine? Thanks

Firefox sends credentials in HTTP header to Apache2 for any subdirectory

Hello,

on an Apache 2.2 httpd I have configured a named virtual host like https://example.com:4711

This virtual host contains 2 reverse proxies for the /i/ and /apex/ subdirectories used for Oracle Application Express. In addition to this there is a subdirectory named /docs for some static documents which are independent from Oracle APEX.

Within the Apache virtual host configuration the /docs directory is password-protected using the directives "AuthType Basic" and "AuthName MyDir" inside a <Directory ...> section - this is working fine so far.

However, when being authenticated for the /docs directory, the credentials are also sent when requesting /apex/ or /i/ URLS - thus disturbing the Oracle APEX Authentication (which uses cookies). Doing some monitoring with Wireshark (after switching off SSL temporarily) shows that the credentials for the "MyDir" realm are sent in the HTTP header not only for /docs but just for every directory. After clearing the "Active Logins" the APEX login works fine again.

Tested with FF 60 ESR (as well as with old FF 45.9 ESR).

Is there any means to prevent this behaviour, i.e. that users do not have to clear "Active Logins"? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Markus

My Mac hardware (a MacBook Pro of many years ago) works very well for me with the older Mac OS 10.6.8. Until fairly recently the older Firefox 45.9.0 has also worked very well for me. I just recently started getting a warning message when starting up Facebook: "Update Your Browser. You’re using a web browser that isn’t supported by Facebook. To get a better experience, go to one of these sites and get the latest version of your preferred browser: ..." with links to Firefox (https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=unsupported-browser-notification&fbclid=IwAR3NdThGKABa4x41ODOKtxHiIxdZAJv_4TfiZDi8EcGGSLul1fB-v7F7o2Y) and Chrome. The Firefox link notes that my system "... doesn't meet the requirements.." (presumably) of what the standard, current Fireox installation provides.

So: -- Does anyone know exactly what Facebook is changing ("soon") and/or how soon that change will happen? -- Is there any version of Firefox more recent than 45.0.0 that will run (perhaps with some tolerable "limits") on Mac OS 10.6.8? --- ... if so, what version should I look for? --- ... and at what website.

-- Thank you.

I've noticed from time to time that Firefox doesn't place cache files in the normal ~/Library/Caches location. On rebooting, I cannot also locate any cache components (like startupCache.*.big) in a "Recovered files" folder in the trash. So in a case like this were the heck do these caches go and how can I get rid of them. I have an SSD that is about half full and the last thing I need is to have it filling up with stupid temporary internet files.

Thanks

Embedded Twitter Videos won't play - Firefox 45 (MacOS 10.5-10.8)

Hello ,

i am using Firefox browser on most of my devices and i really like it , but lately i noticed some shortcomings (plugins no more working outside Firefox ESR starting with FF52) and since i often visit RT noticed that embedded videos that refer to Twitter won't work on my systems that are limited to Firefox 45 on Macintoshs with MacOS X 10.5 till 10.8. Mac OS 10.9+ can install Firefox 45+ eg FF 52 or above , but for example on Mac that is running Osx Lion 10.7.5 and FF 45 this problem appears.

Here is a link to a site with embedded video that works on such a system https://www.rt.com/uk/441856-passenger-rant-rynair-flight/

instead when the embedded video is linked to twitter it won't show the video, like here https://www.rt.com/sport/441844-mourinho-temper-chelsea-khabib/

Is there anything i could do to make the video playable on Firefox 45?

Thank you very much for your great work at Mozilla!

I tried multiple times, there is also nothing in my spam folder, it looks like your confirmation mail is not sent.

As I first tried to send this message here, I had to create Firefox Account and I gave the same yahoo email address as I already use for Firefox Sync, then again I had to wait for the confirmation mail from you and ... no email arived! Only when I registered with my gmail, could I get the confirmation mail.

Firefox and yahoo seem to be not compatible

I am running Firfox on a linux system (Slackware 14.1). Frequently, when I have terminated firefox (at least I think so), and I want to start it again, I get a message telling me that it is still running. In that case, I open a root console and enter "killall firefox". However, I somehow feel that things should be different. More convenient, at least.
