I want to register at www.bleepingcomputer.com but I need to fill in "reCAPTCHA" to do so. It tells me to update to a new version of firefox that supports reCAPTCHA-control but I am on an older computer that doesn't support the newer versions. I wonder which is the oldest required version of firefox that supports reCAPTCHA? Do I have any other alternatives?

I currently use Firefox 35. A box pops up saying to upgrade to 45.0.2 When I click on upgrade and install, it says,"connecting to upgrade sever", but it never connects. I have it set up to upgrade automatically, but it doesn't do that either. I lost my administrative password so I can't install a newer version manually. Any suggestions?

I asked this yesterday thinking I would get an answer via email but I guess it doesn't work that way so I'll try again now and stay on this site awhile hoping to get an answer. I have Firefox set up to automatically update but it doesn't. Every time I start the computer, before too long, there is a popup box that tells me to update to version 45.0.2 When I click on "update and install, it says,"connecting to update server." but it never connects no matter how much time I give it. Suggestions please.

If I could offer one bit of help as an instruction manual writer - who's reviewed a variety of Mozilla's support answers under Sessions and Bookmarks recovery over the years, (where support answers are less than optimal in their "how to", "why" and "conditions of applicability"). And that idea would be for one of your senior technical writers to prepare an advanced downloadable Sessions and Bookmarks instruction manual containing a list of every possible problem for each version (which I imagine are under 30 scenarios for each version series). that could also include additional scenarios when users have added Session and Bookmark "add-ons" which generate session and bookmark backup files that may or many not have file type conflicts that can be renamed,, so when Mozilla support team members want to answer a familiar question, they can refer to the specific page and section of the manual, or they can decide to copy and paste from the manual while also providing the user with a website containing the manual. Trust me, there would be a lot less confusion, mistakes, losses and certainly aggravation and repetition from both user and support team members in trying to answer these issues. Perhaps you'd like to run some ideas by me on structure. Thanks for listening.

Late last night in a mad dash of troubleshooting, we tried to load a 64 bit FireFox into the XP64 bit computer. Now, we tried probably a lot...from something like 41.0.09 (last 41 version) up through 50.something). ALL of these on the Mozilla website list them as compatible with XP 64...yet every one, when loading, stopped and flagged that I must have 7 or later. We went back and checked..every one says XP 64 bit compatibility.

What I need is to have that limitation removed...not just for me, but for the (admitted by MicroSoft) over 30 million XP users out there.

Please advise.

we always deploy firefox with sccm with the -ms switch. however, we are wanting to deploy firefox and disable auto-updates. i keep reading something about deploying firefox with a .ini file but i cant find anywhere on the switches or tags that need to be included in that .ini file to disable auto updates. i need everything to be the same as if we were deploying with -ms but i just need to disable auto-updates.

i also found that the actuall command line install would be something like the below:

firefox.exe /INI=<full path to configuration ini file>

can anyone assist me on this? much appreciated.

Dear Firefox Contributors and Developers.

One of your Contributors indicates you are removing or have removed a users' ability to rebuild lost bookmarks or add a section of operating bookmarks from one computer to another operating system. Say it isn't so.

To make this insidious election, a Firefox developer or committee would have to pretend that Firefox never crashes and/or looses bookmarks, and that bookmarks are not really important to most or all users who use and would want to recover personal or business research that took days, months or years to produce, where users would by default due to Firefox failures and crashes to sort and pick through thousands of older bookmarks to find the few or a bundle of super, super important bookmarks that are missing from one session or from a multitude of sessions ago. Sometimes you don't realize bookmarks are missing until you see a difference in the total megabytes from one bookmarks file to another. Firefox is not perfected to the point that it prevents the loss of bookmarks or currently designed to to easily regain missing bookmarks. Why are you taking this all too important function from us, and not adding to our capabilities?

I was actually hoping to interest you in a way to allow users to additionally tag and open and/or save multiple bookmarks (including from a non-successive list of bookmarks (by using the shift-key to incorporate them - like the bookmarks library allows) into a live browser or into a saved bookmarks html.file (using an editor). An editor can then shrink a file down for purposes of appending to an existing bookmark's file, or create a whole new bookmark's file by editing and joining two separate files to append and later delete the original but now incomplete operating bookmark's. A few interesting design features could be implemented here.

And oh, here's a fascinating concept for users who have spent years developing an elaborate architecture of substantially important "folder" categories. It would be the ability to search in a live browser bookmarks column for "folders" and not just a potentially long list of numerous bookmarks in several or numerous folders (where a result would deliver, by election), one of three result options 1) to result with the folder in its current bookmarked column position, 2) as a single or list of multiple found folder(s), or 3) as a combination of found folders and bookmarks. This would avoid the oftentimes long and unwanted search result of too many bookmarks that share the same word, because knowing the name of a folder is much easier, not to mention, the current search regime and not being able to remember an important key word can oftentimes not yield the bookmark. What do you think. If the answer is yes, I can be of assistance in helping you with design features. I really would like a Firefox developer to send this up the committee flag pole.

Thanks for listening.

Why plugins don´t have this option?

Here's the promise from Mozilla two years ago to make viewing Firefox's Bookmark html. files as easy an quick to read, find and compare bookmark files as compared with viewing the same Firefox html bookmark file through Internet Explorer. I'm attaching the comparable files.

Hello cvmenn,

Thanks for reporting your experience with Firefox. We always try to deliver the best to our 430 million users worldwide. Our Engineers will definitely respond to your issue as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for using Firefox!

Have a nice 'Firefox' time ;)

______________________________________________________

By viewing a Firefox Bookmark file through Internet Explorer, I see every one of my generated bookmark sublayers that help firefox users find and compare bookmark files much quicker. You can see that with IE there are four (4) bookmark layers compared with Firefox identifying only two. I suppose if I created 6 or more layers, I would see all of them. The color differentiation with IE is also better than Firefox's.

I hope this is an easy design change for you guys and girls.

My more complex idea was never responded to, so perhaps a shortened version will get lucky.

Since the distance of your thumbs and my thumbs while resting on a space bar are closer and dexterially "easier" and "quicker" to reach the Alt key for use with the shortcut keys than the Ctrl key is by faaarrrrr, and where the reach or stretch to the other short cut keys are"closer" and "faster" to get to, I wonder whether Firefox will soon consider allowing users to eliminate or switch between the more awkward, slower, and mistake-making task of the Ctrl key (especially for those of us with medium to smaller hands or less dexterity, and which induces us to less often use or abandon the use of shortcuts, to instead give us the freedom and speed of using the Alt key instead. I have to admit though, the Ctrl key was absolutely awesome before keyboard manufacturers changed it's location.

Secondly, newer versions of Firefox have eliminated or nullified almost half of the super excellent add-ons that I count on everyday with no real replacement or a less than optimal replacement, and stops me dead in my tracks from upgrading. What I don't want to happen is for websites and google to constantly tell me to upgrade or that my version isn't supported. There should be no reason you smart folks can't figure a way to upgrade without adversely affecting our add-ons. Not to mention, the add-on people spend a lot of time (like you do) putting those add-ons together for us, and to make them disappear so easily, disenfranchises them from making more or upgrading. How about a little help with this one as well.

Thanks for your time answering my suggestions - hopefully.
