Firefox does not open Filetypes from Windows File Handler

I can't open Files from Firefox on a Windows Terminal Server. Whenever I try to open a downloaded file by clicking on it (or specifying "open with" on the download Dialog) nothing gets opened and no errors are shown.
Usually it opens the default program specified in Windows but on 2 Terminal Servers nothing opens.
What I tried so far:
- Check filetype associations in Windows and testet it on a cmd and the windows explorer: works as expected
- Try with different Windows Users: Problem is present across different windows users
- Try with a new firefox profile: Same problem
- Try with firefox.exe -safe-mode: Same problem
- Try resetting handlers.json (by moving from the Firefox installation directory)
Do you have any ideas how to investigate this further?
I know that it worked previously. Could this be caused by a Update of Firefox?

EU has the pesky "Cookie Law". In order to get rid of the banner asking for permission to install cookies, permission to install must be granted. Will Firefox continue to block (chosen) cookies even after I formally give a website permission to install cookies and so forth? If the answer is 'yes', I will have to manually deselect the most invasive cookies. This would be a major nuisance. I imagine that the answer is 'no' - because, why would Firefox allow cookies based on a request from a website? Meanwhile, I can't find an answer. Thanks!
Will choosing blocking 'cookies from unvisited websites' also block 'cross-site and social media trackers'?

Every time I try to make or receive a call it asks for permission to use microphone in Gmail Hangouts https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox . I can set it to always allow by right clicking the chat window and page info, yet it keeps on asking for permission to use. -- It DOES show as being allowed both in the list in Options and when you check the page Info.
I thought maybe it has something to do with Flash ending, but when I use Hangouts on the Hangouts page: https://hangouts.google.com/ it works fine. And yes, I have removed all cookies and cache several times. Another thing I noticed is that you can't add any pages manually in the options. Not sure if that is related. Note that I use Firefox and Windows 7 .

When downloading a file, the file download window pops up. The option "Save this file" is automatically selected, which is good. But the OK button is disabled until I hover over it, or for several seconds or something? Sometimes it stays disabled, and sometimes it enabled itself quite quickly. It seems kind of random.
Bottomline is, I want that OK button to be ALWAYS enabled. I want to be able to hit the enter key as soon as the download window pops up. I don't want my browser to make me wait arbitrarily. That's annoying.
I would also like to know why the "Do this from now on" checkbox is disabled. Why can't I make downloads always start right away without that (to me, silly) download window popping up? That's what that checkbox is for, is it not?
I would suggest that disabling a UI control is always bad if it's not absolutely completely 100% crystal clear WHY it's disabled. Instead, display a message or whatever explaining why something can't be done.

HI. I understand how difficult Sync is and have read the deep dive article on how it is being (or has been) rebuilt to work "properly". I have just one question - but here's why: Sync still has the ability to mess up bookmarks between my 5 Windows machines. So all I want is a clear way to do this: I'd like to fix up all my bookmarks on one machine : let's call it "A" - and then propagate that to all the others. I tried doing this by A. Stopping sync on all, B. Fixing up the duplicates, empty folders and other messed up things in bookmarks on A manually C. Starting Sync again. And within a day my 5 hour marathon had been completely wasted as they were in a heck of a mess again. Could someone please try and include "A straightforward way to reset and rebuild your bookmarks- AND SYNC THEM!" in the design doc? And put that a set of clear instructions somewhere? But in the meantime - please let me know how I do this. Surely "reset and rebuild from here" is an obvious requirement? Thanks guys - this hurts because I'm completely in love with the "new" Firefox and how safe I feel with it. So help me here!

I have tried with torrents and other magnet links and none of them work

Just installed a GeoTrust EV SSL and noticed no green address bar or company name displayed. GeoTrust support says "Unfortunately, Chrome and FireFox has discontinued the EV green bar display with their latest version of browsers. The organization name is only visible by clicking the padlock." Pretty sure the Comodo EV SSL that we had before the GeoTrust EV SSL did show a green bar, but can't remember for sure.

Firefox says theres an update, so I download it. I then have to verify my firefox account with my email...of which I cannot open. Yet again another stupid update poorly researched and executed. I have a Youtube video in a open tab and upon restarting and restoring the page, it reloads and tells me that the video was removed. I tried to look in the history to see what the video was called, however, it turns out that when reloading the page, no matter how old the tab is, it will remove the old history entry of when you first visited the site. Is there any way to stop, or set a time limit, to this behaviour?
