Firefox crashes

Firefox crashes after a few minutes around an hour or so, and going through the matter through several system restores has erased all my browsing history. I've managed to test out updating my plugins, removing a virus successfully, and even resetting Firefox. The problem still persists. I have not yet tested out Safe Mode for sure yet, since I don't want to be dealing with ads often while doing so.

If I happen to try out memtest, I'm sadly not sure of which flash drives etc to proceed with the install.

Of those 5 reports, the 3rd refers to the Shockwave for Director plugin, and the others refer to the Flash plugin.

It appears you have two versions of the Shockwave for Director plugin. Try deleting the older one. To find the location on disk, you can type or paste about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter. Even if you only see one there, most likely they are in the same folder.

The 5th one mentions "FlashPlayerPlugin_12_0_0_44.exe" which usually appears if the Protected Mode feature is enabled. Did you say you disabled it?

If you're not sure that worked, you can check the Windows Task Manager while you have some Flash media running to see whether you find one or more of those EXE processes listed. If so, Protected Mode probably is still running. If needed, the following pages provide different ways to disable the feature:

That is a problem with the Flash plugin:

Firefox 27.0 Crash Report [@ flashplayerplugin_12_0_0_44.exe@0x2c617 ]

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I have tested out uninstalling and reinstalling/updating my Flash plugin (Adobe), as well as getting rid of the protected mode and hardware acceleration.

It appears to be of little difference somehow, since maybe the only option left is to deal with the RealPlayer; I just downloaded the newest RealPlayer via RealPlayer Cloud; is there anything I need to do with that?

This is the latest crash I just got, but it seems to be read as a hang.

I just also tested out a few Windows updates, but it seems the problem still persists.

For my Flash versions, I have an "application/x-shockwave-flash" and an "application/futuresplash". If this is the case, which one do I get rid of?

And yes, after the 5th report (and of course the 4th), that was when I managed to disable the Protected Mode of Flash.

I've never seen a hang report before. The only thing that jumps out at me is the reference to a DLL from MyStart Anti-phishing Domain Advisor. Do you recall installing that software?

Well, since the info I dug up on it states that it comes with the Panda Cloud Antivirus (which I assume is also part of the Pando Media Booster), mayhaps I gotten that program unwittingly while trying out League of Legends?

I'm pretty sure there is no relation between Panda (antivirus company) and Pando (peer-to-peer network). If you go into the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, and click the "Installed on" column heading, you can get a better idea of what programs were bundled together.

Alright, I have uninstalled the MyStart Anti-Phishing, but sadly, even with that feat done there's still no stopping my Firefox from closing by itself after a while.

And there are occasions where my Submitted Crash Reports log doesn't list down all crash reports; some can slip by and it may take a one or two crashes for it the list the next one.

I've gone through the process of uninstalling and removing traces of Adobe Flash and Shockwave (it took a while to manage removing one old version of Shockwave for Director), then I managed to reinstall Adobe Flash as well.

From learning on how to remove plugins, I managed to get rid of all sorts of other plugins as well (such as RealPlayer just in case).

Still waiting if crashes happen.

It appears the problem has been solved; I remember uninstalling Flash one time I forgot the get rid of the other files included. It seems that my crashing problems are gone for now.
