I installed something and now whenever I open a new tab, instead of the defajlt firefox page I see "start.sweetpacks.com". This only happens on Firefox 21.0, not Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. How do I get rid of this? I used MalwareBytes, AdAware, and SuperAntiSpyware, and I still have it. I ran the diagnostic tool SpyHunter4 which came up with a bunch of stuff but I have to pay extra money to remove sweetpacks from my PC. Thanks

Soluzione scelta

Hello, try the SearchReset add-on, only run once and then the add-on uninstalls itself.

thank you

You need to uninstall Sweetpacks search protect as well. It should be listed with all the other applications, looks for 'BrowserDefender' or "BrowserProtected' and also uninstall updater by sweetpacks. All these apps will resinstall Sweetpacks search if not removed. More here:

Also, scan your computer with AdwCleaner.

Actually a webpage of sweetpacks http://lp.sweetim.com/SweetPacksBundleUninstaller/]

will tell you how to uninstall and/or get rid of tab problems. I uninstalled this and still had tab problems - just follow their instructions and if you want a blank tab use 'about:blank' in place of sweetpacks
more options

1. In the address bar, type 'about:config' and then click Enter. 2. You will be notified that you are about to change your settings. Click 'I'll be careful, I promise!' 3. You will see a Search field, type ‘newtab' and then click 'browser.newtab.url'. 4. In the box that will be opened, enter the URL that you want to open in the new tab page instead of Sweetpacks and then click OK.

The 6/14/13 answer is an excellent simple answer that solved the problem. (Before I did this step I also uninstalled Microsofts CrapWare and ran Malware Bytes and Emsisoft Anti-Malware which also found SweetPacks elements.)

I did the about:config thing to get rid of Sweetpacks on the tab, but how do I totally clean my system of it? I can't find any add-ons, plug-ins, or installed programs that have "sweetpacks" anywhere in the name. I can't understand that, unless it shows up by another name.

Here's what I did to remove all elements: Go to Control Panel. Click Add/Remove Programs (I use Revo Uninstaller). Select Sweetpacks. Then Remove. Then run Malware Bytes and Emsisoft Anti-Malware. Then do the about:config thing.
