After I put my password on windows live log in page I get a page saying

Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<configuration>

  <system.web>
      <customErrors mode="Off"/>
  </system.web>

</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<configuration>

  <system.web>
      <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
  </system.web>

</configuration>

I've tried different things like clear the cache and cookies, check for any general.useragent.override pref. that might be causing the issue but no luck on anything. Is it my settings or is it a problem from Microsoft. Other people that I asked could actually log into their accounts which leads me to think its something on my computer or account. I can't access my account neither from friends computer that could access theirs nor from my kindle or my blackberry.

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Hello cor-el and thanks for your answer.

I have cleared the cached Web Content and removed the Cookies already but nothing happened.

I have tried to start Firefox in safe mode but has not worked for me on my Mac.

I noticed the problem about 10 hours ago and up to 10 min ago I was getting the Error message mentioned above.

Just now I'm being redirected to an outlook mail page that says

"Sorry, it looks like there was an error. Please try again. "

The page also has the Sign out option which says to me that now I'm managing to log in now but their server should be done.

Is this what you make out of this as well?

I'm worried cause I have not had access to my account for many hours now and everything I tried did not work but 10 hours sounds way too long for it being a server problem from Microsoft.

It is possible that your old Firefox 3.6.x version isn't supported by Outlook.

The last Firefox version that runs on Mac OS X 10.4 is Firefox 3.6.28.

Current Firefox versions require a Mac with an Intel processor and OS X 10.6 (Firefox 16 runs on Intel Mac OS X 10.5).

For an unofficial Firefox 17.0.6 ESR compatible version (TenFourFox) that runs on a PowerPC Mac with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:

I run Firefox 3.6.28 and I had some problems some times when the full version could load but in general I have the ability to run the mobile version without any problems.

The funny thing is that I gave my details to friends that run newer macs and one was getting the same problem and the other two were getting the same message that I'm getting at this stage "Sorry, it looks like there was an error. Please try again. "

Also no luck on my kindle and no luck on my Blackberry.

Had also tried Safari and will attempt a PC as soon as possible.

No idea what it might be happening. Any help on trying to start Firefox on safe mode and see if something changes? I've tried to do according to pages on this forum and I couldnt get it to run in safe mode.

Thanks a lot for your help
