What are your current application preferences for PDFs? You can check here:

Firefox > Preferences > Applications

In the search box on that tab, type pdf and pause while the list is filtered. In the right column drop-down control, you should be able to control which viewer is used. Does that work?

Does not work. I have selected adobe reader and it keeps launching adobe in a separate window. Thus, I cannot complete the task online. Please help my friend

If I select Use adobe NPAPI Plugin, the pdf file opens as a blank pdf file within mozilla.

Thanks for posting the solution. As a Windows user, I don't have a 64-bit option, so I'm not familiar with that issue.
