Password appearing in username field after accidentely entering it there - how do I remove this?
I have accidentally entered my gmail password in the username field. Now when I click in the username field to log in to my account, as well as my username appearing in the pop-up autofil my password also appears. In the past I used to be able to remove this my clearing the cache (or maybe I did something else - I can't remember) but this does not work now - next time I go to log in, the password appears in the pop-up. I've tried clearing cache, doesn't work. I even uninstalled, downloaded FF 6.0 again but the problem persists. I could just change my password but don't want to have to do this every time I make this mistake. How do I permanently clear this password "memory" from the username field pop-up prompt box please? I'm using a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8. A solution will be much appreciated. :-)

When clearing your cache in the preferences, there's an option to clean "formula data" or "form and search history". This should help. The following should help, too: - By using the arrow keys cycle through the suggested usernames - When your password is marked, just push the delete-button
I hope this is helpfull for you.

Thanks for the suggestions wirwe.
Could you tell me how to find the "formula date" and "form and search history" options please. I've been using FF Prefs/Advanced/Network and click the "Clear Now" button.
Cycling through and deleting doesn't work. The password immediately reappears in the suggested usernames.
Privacy – History – Clear your recent history
Ah! They are under "Tools" on the top line of stuff (I should know what this is called really!), where "File", "Edit" etc. is.
So far this appears to have worked! In which case big thanks to you wirwe! :-)
I will reply again here if the problem reappears.

I'm waiting to see if the reply has solved it. If the problem does not reoccur tomorrow I will do as you instruct - as I would have done anyway mha007.
okay...
- Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
- Highlight an entry in the drop down list
- Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

Thanks cor-el, straight deleting from the list didn't work but shift+delete might and I'll try it if the situation arises again.
What did work was to go to Tools/Clear Recent History.../and tick the "Form and Search History" option and I got this from wirwe's suggestion, so although wirwe's suggestion was not exactly the solution (and I don't want to mislead anyone else with this problem) I will indicate this as the "solved it" reply (or mha007 may tell me off! ;-)
Thanks all of you for your help, much appreciated :-)
