I lost all of my bookmarks, cannot add new ones, and cannot import from Internet Explorer.

I have tried uninstalling addons and reinstalling Firefox, but I am still having this problem. I also lost the "getting started" and "latest headlines" toolbar and can't subscribe to new RSS feeds.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Thank you! It turned out that I didn't have a places.sqlite file at all. I was able to follow these directions and create a new profile. That fixed the problem.
