This can be caused by a few different things: 1) Pages that have lots of content or code can sometimes really lag Firefox. Stuff like videos and games start plugins which can hang or lag. 2) Extensions can sometimes stall Firefox when they're trying to do tasks. The AVG safesearch extension, for example, scans every page you look at which makes Firefox a lot slower. Try troubleshooting extensions and themes

My issue has nothing to do with video, etc. I have nothing special apart from use of the internet itself, not Twitter, etc.

It has begun stalling really a lot since the latest update. The "loading" takes much, much longer than it should and 50% of the time, I get a white box telling me Firefox can't be retrieved or whatever, basically telling me that the server is down. Sucks when I'm trying to pay bills! Pls address this quickly. It's not 1995 any more. Txs, Wendy

I get not responding while reading email. The last one lock up the computer and cntl,alt,del did not get me out. I had to turn the power off. At first it happened occasionally, but it is all the time. Loading Firefox takes a long time for me also. Please advise what I can do to fix this problem.

Firefox stops responding every few mins or so for bout 10 seconds, BUT it did not happen untill I started using the newer version of Firefox

TO FIREFOX shouldn't newer version of firefox be a BETTER one to use. But it has dozens of problems.

1. Screen not responding... time waster to install and uninstall and install, millions of times for this to work

2. Roboform doesn't work either

3. New version looks uglier than ever... not a user friendly

4. That is why we have reverted back to old version Firefox 3.6 .. as thats the only one where Roboform works.

5. Firefox people never seem to fix anything... Google it and you'll see they will say we have to fix it ourselves on our PC... such a waste of time

6. We have to pay our internet providers, who are hopeless too.. they don't know a thing about internet problems.

I had this same issue and solved it. The problem was a registry error. Follow the instructions below to resolve it.

Go to 'Run' and open 'cmd' • Type 'netsh' in command console then press enter • Then type 'winsock' and press enter and then type reset • Restart Your PC

• Problem Is Solved :)

I am just about ready to GIVE UP on FireFox, this is really disheartening!

@Sherni: Get rid of the Robo-Form CROOKS. I own 4 lifetime licenses that are worthless now due to their scandalous ways. LastPass is the only way to go and the basic is free. https://lastpass.com/

This problem has been HORRIBLE today. I am not exaggerating when I made my name be computeriswacky. I can't understand how there hasn't been a fix for this other than what the guy above said (and I am not sure if I should try b/c with my luck I'll end up with a virus or a problem even worse than it is now). Are admin even commenting on this issue?
