Downloaded and tried to install using FireFox. Problem, program has not been verified. Not installed. Why?

Trying to get back all of my inboxes to display when I click on the account. I do not want your new panel for account settings. Displaying the last folder open does not always work. Have change all settings so that the default inbox is visible but it does not work. Fix this problem. You have taken a huge step backwards. How can I get back to ver 68? Maybe I will stop making contributions and find another email package. Using 78.5 for 32 bit.

re :Trying to get back all of my inboxes to display when I click on the account.

If you select the actual account name folder in the folder Pane, it will not display contents of Inbox or any other folder because you have not selected a folder. It will display the panel for account settings just as it always has done - this is not new. The panel has had a make over which some people are very happy about because they use it alot. But selecting the account name folder has always shown that information.

If the account is not displaying folders then see if the small arrow > to the left of the account name needs clicking on to display the drop down of folders.

re:Displaying the last folder open does not always work. This is reliant on the session folder remaining intact. If you have a program on your computer that cleans up session files eg: CCleaner or even some Anti-Virus programs can do it, then you will experience a problem where the last session is not remembered. So worth checking out if that is occuring - I mention this because it has been the cause for many people who lose session data.

Thanks for the reply and information.

" It will display the panel for account settings just as it always has done - this is not new. The panel has had a make over which some people are very happy about because they use it alot. Cannot tell you which one. I did not update TB all that often. Maybe I never saw it as I all ways clicked on the inbox. The short of it is that I would like to have the option to have account setting panel gone. I do not run CCleaner and as far as I know the Mc Afee version I use does not clean up the email or session settings. I never had that problem.

Are not all of the functions of the "new" account panel available from the tool bar(s)?

re :For how long is "always shown that information"? I've been using thunderbird for well over a decade, so a long time. If you select a folder then you see folder contents. If you select the account name then you see info to do with account name.

re : The short of it is that I would like to have the option to have account setting panel gone. Then do not select the account name folder in the Folder Pane and you will never see it. After all the time you have been using Thunderbird and it never bothered you until now.

re: Are not all of the functions of the "new" account panel available from the toolbars? Yes. You can locate them all in various menus. But, some people only use a few functions of which all of them happen to be on that one view; they do not have to try to remember where to locate them. It's a quick and simple basic menu which seems easier to those people. Some users will have disabled the menu bars to save space.

Often you will find there are several ways to perform specifc actions.

For example: how many ways to see 'Account Settings' window?

  1. Click on account name in Folder Pane > click on 'Account Settings'
  2. Right click on account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
  3. Click on 'Menu app icon' on the 'Mail Toolbar' > select 'Account Settings'
  4. Click on 'Tools' on the 'Menu Bar' toolbar and select 'Account Settings'
  5. Use keyboard - Hold down 'Alt' key and press 'T' followed by 'S'

So, as you can see there are various ways to achieve the same result, but it depends on which you prefer; which seems more natural. There is no 'correct' method; all are valid. It depends upon whether you have the necessary toolbars visible or not. Some people like or need to use the keyboard. Thunderbird offers this so users can choose.
