Firefox closed unexpectedly - lost all tabs!
I have 2 windows of firefox and i close it using bat file. Which terminates process firefox. I used it like that long time and never had problem. However i launched firefox and it said some error and gave me 2 choices: either start in safe mode or refresh. I clicked on refresh and now all my tabs are gone. I checked under history and closed windows - there is nothing... Any way to get my tabs back?
Also how to avoid this issue, if you close window one by one. Than you go to go to library and history and manually restore window, or press some hotkey. Even that is annoying, instead of just using bat file to kill process and than you have both windows open. Because sometimes close window won't safe, if you use hotkey. So i gave up on that...

Refreshing Firefox -- easily fix most problems
If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks and open tabs. Everything else, like user settings and add-ons, are removed. Note: Refresh saves your old profile to the desktop in a folder called Old Firefox.
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Do you always open the same tabs/windows? Create a batch program to do that for you.

I checked that folder and session folder inside, but it didn't contain my tabs. How can i prevent crashes like this? I never had problem like this using chrome.

What files do you have in the sessionstore-backups folder? They are compressed; I have a tool to decompress them and list out the contents of the session on my site:

After dropping a file on the page, click the Scrounge URLs button to extract the contents. If you don't get results within 15 seconds, the tab probably crashed. You can close the tab and try again.
To exit Firefox, is there a reason you can't use the menu? Either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Exit
- (menu bar) File > Exit

Jsonlz4 and baklz4. I already tried that and there weren't my tabs. I am more concerned now, so it doesn't happen again. Firefox crashes often comparing to chrome and i never lost tabs in chrome!

I already tried scrounger and it didn't contain my tabs.
At this point, i am more concerned so it doesn't happen again. Firefox crashes from time to time, i never had that problem with chrome.
I am using ctrl+shift+q now to close firefox, i found out, it will reopen all windows after that. And i am not sure, it was because i closed firefox using bat file. I had firefox crashing randomly before, when i didn't use bat file to close it.
Hopefully letting Firefox do an orderly shutdown instead of having Windows "kill" it will help with session history file usability in the future.
If you want a "Plan B," there also are session management extensions you could consider. These are the ones I'm aware of that you might investigate/try out:
Use database storage:
- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tab-session-manager/
- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/session-boss/
Use bookmark storage:
- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/session-sync/
- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/my-sessions/
Bookmark storage is more robust in that Firefox backs it up regularly. However, having the extra data show up when you are searching your bookmarks may be annoying.
If you have submitted crash reports, please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that start with "bp-".

You can find the report ID of recent crash reports on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.
- click the "All Crash Reports" button on this page to open the about:crashes page and see all crash reports.
Alternatively you can open about:crashes via the location/address bar.

Yeah i know, i just don't like using many addons nowadays. There is no way to verify whether or not extensions are safe on 100%.
All submissions to the add-ons site are tested. Any problems and they don't get posted.
If there are problems in the future, the browsers are told to disable them.

Yeah but that doesn't mean, that catches everything. Because there are many addons, which are unsafe. Or it isn't clear what exactly it does. I don't use addons except ublock...

I don't use addons except ublock...
