I am switching to Windows 10 on a new laptop. I downloaded Firefox. Trying to log in using my original email address and password that I use on my old computer for Firefox. Doesn't accept password. When I try to change password email indicates the message is coming from the IP address of my old laptop..... which it isn't.... not sure how to fix this. I cannot log in on my new laptop because of the password. I am sending this from my old laptop simply because I can't log in to help on the new one.

So I went to my new computer and created a new password (even though the email said the request was coming from the IP address of my old computer) and then created a new account on my new computer with the new password. So that seemed to work. Not easy stuff for a 75 yr old !! It still might be wrong I suppose ??

Change IP adderss in firefox go to firefox browser "dropdown" menu for Tools->Options change your IP address in firefox click on the "Advanced" tab, and then on the "Network" tab. in the "connection" area, click setting. next step Check the box for "Manual proxy configuration".

Check the box "Use this proxy server for all protocols"
In the box "No Proxy for", enter "localhost, 127.0.0.1"

so that connections within your computer don't go through the external relay.

next step In the box that says "HTTP Proxy", enter the IP address of a working proxy server (see below) and its corresponding port to the right. final step

Click OK at the bottom of the dialog box to exit the setup.
Click on iPrivacyTools.com/my-ip-address/ to see if your IP address has changed.

Thankyou for your reply. I need a little clarification: You say, "enter, local host 172.0.0.1"...... Do you mean literally, enter those numbers or your own IP number?

Then you say, "In the box that says HTTP Proxy, enter the IP address of a working proxy server (see below).... I cannot find what you are referring to when you say "see below".

I did just search for my IP address and it seems it is remaining that of my old computer, so I guess I haven't solved much in my previous message and do need to do what you say, so I hope you will be able to clarify this for me.
