Hello, have you got any solution? I am facing the same issue for my website passwords. I lost my wp-admin password and I even don't remember the username. There is no way to get back. can firefox update all the passwords again?

I was not looking for a solution just flagging what I consider a security issue.

All I had to do was re-instate a FF master password. The fact the master password had been removed was worrying.

If you have kept your WP passwords in FF then you should be able to easily locate both username and password for your website in the passwords section.

Do you possibly have a key3.db key file used by older Firefox versions in the profile folder that didn't have a MP set ?

If there has been a problem with accessing the currently used key4.db file then Firefox may have fallen back to key3.db with the result of not having a MP.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Hi Cor-el

Thank you for the advice. On the PC I am currently using there is no key3.db file. I will have to check the other devices later.

If you are connected to Sync then in theory it is possible that a new Logins database is created and initialized with data on the Sync server. In that case the new database won't have a MP set if the problem was that serious that the key file wasn't accessible. On Windows there is always the possibility that security software keeps a handle on some files and thus prevents Firefox from accessing the file. In such a case you might get a logins.json.corrupt file in the profile folder.
