I have Firefox 65.0.1, which is the latest version for my OS; however, I keep getting warnings that I need to update, which financially I can’t do. Why is this

This message is appearing every time that I open Firefox. If I have the last version for my OS, which I admit is an old version but I can't afford to spend $1000+ to upgrade all the software on my computer for a new OS Version. Money that I don't have! (The OS is low or no cost but everybody wants money for an upgrading the other software I have, and need, on my computer. Plus I'd have to spend hours of my time getting all of that software setup and running, which isn't free. (No I don't bill myself for that time, but I can't do the other things that I need to be doing when I'm futzing around with resetting up my computer. For a computer that is over 5 years old it might not be cost effective to install a new OS.)

Mac OS X 10.10.5 is capable of running current Releases as OS X 10.9 has been the minimum since Fx 48.0

Hello scifipecan,

You should not get a message saying that you need to update your OS - but you do need to update Firefox to the latest version, whick is : 65.0.2 ......

If that doesn't help try disabling your extension SearchLock 1.2.1 (@searchlock-fx) .

Btw Firefox 66.0 will support Mac OSX 10.9 or later as the requirements for 66.0 Beta shows.

The asking to update is likely for 65.0.2 and nothing about OS requiring an update. The 65.0.2 was actually made for Windows users in mind and not required for Mac and Linux. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/65.0.2/releasenotes/
