I have no such issue with my office computer.

Please help.

Soluzione scelta

I got it fixed finally. Both PCs.

Just by powering off and back on the WiFi modem. That's it!

Still, thanks to all for the help rendered.

I assume you are using https://accounts.firefox.com/settings

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

It still does not work.

There are no tracking and third party cookies on my https://accounts.firefox.com for me to delete. I cleared my cache. Closed and restarted Firefox.

I also restarted in Safe Mode so that no addon was attached.

And I still got 'unexpected error'.

Could it be the cloud problem as some preceding complainants experienced.

Hello,

I just sent an email to somebody who might be able to help (fingers crossed ..... ), but we are dealing with different time zones, so you may have to wait even longer (sorry .... ).

About six months ago we had about forty people reporting the same problem :

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/support-forum-contributors/713125?last=74668

Nobody has ever been able to tell us what finally solved the problem .....

Hi 2g01UviG

My apologies if you have tried any of the following

  1. First, the obvious: if you haven't tried this already: have you turned your computer off and then on again. Often Windows computers mysteriously :-) work after that.
  2. Have you tried turning off your firewall? Your home firewall may block things that aren't blocked at work.
  3. If you are using WiFi have you tried using a wired connection? If you are using a wired connected, have you tried WiFi?
  4. any log output in the web console? If so please paste it into a reply here! You can access the web console by using the shortcut "Control Shift K". Full info: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Web_Console/Opening_the_Web_Console

Hope some of the above helps, if not, please let us know!

Cheers!

...Roland

Hi 2g01UviG, I'm a developer working on Firefox Accounts.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having here. I've asked around the team about the error message you're receiving but so far we don't have any solid clues as to what might be going wrong.

If you're willing to help debug a little more, it would be very useful to look in the Network Montior during the login attempt:

 https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Network_Monitor

And see if there are any other failing requests. This tool should list every request made by the page during the login process. If you scroll through the list of requests there, are there any that fail? (They'll be colored a kind of purple/red, and there should be at least one of them, but I'm expecting to see several).

But is it possible to delete my current account and open a new one with the same email?

Are you allowing all cookies?

You can get cross origin issues when there is a problem with the cookie permissions.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

> But is it possible to delete my current account and open > a new one with the same email?

It's possible; you could do this yourself from the computer where login is working correctly, or I could try to dig up instructions on how to file an account deletion request.

But I would not expect this to resolve the "unexpected error" issue you are having. The error message about "CORS request did not succeed" indicates some sort of local network failure when your Firefox tries to talk to the account servers:

 https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/CORS/Errors/CORSDidNotSucceed

But I'm at a bit of a loss to explain what might be causing it :-(

Another computer in the same house has the same issue in that I don't see its history from my office.

But I can't check its sign-in status now. Will check when I get home.

Thanks for continuing with your help, guys.

No luck.

I right-clicked and selected "forget this site", i.e. "accounts.firefox.com". Refreshed the site, keyed in email & password, signed in, and got "Unexpected error" again.

Hi, I'm another developer from Firefox Accounts. Do you happen to have any addons installed that could be interfering with CORS? What are your privacy settings set to?

If you go to about:profiles, create and launch a new profile with no addons and the default security settings, then sign in using that profile, do the problems persist?

more options

Privacy Setting is set to 'Standard'.

Created the new profile, launched and signed in with same email and password. Got '500 Error'.

Also, just found out second computer has same issue. After I signed off, I could not sign in.

Second computer has same issue. After signing off, could not sign in. Same error message.

Can you email me the email address you are using to sign in? My address is stomlinson@mozilla.com. When our Ops team comes online, I can have them check the logs for anything out of the ordinary.
