My firefox has recently updated and since then, everything I have searched for in google appears in the address bar, when before it only showed url's i had typed. I have mucked with the settings and nothing seems to change it.

Have you tried all these settings:

Have you tried resetting Firefox? If you go into:

Firefox => Help => Troubleshooting Information, you should see a button that says "Reset Firefox".

Hit "Finish" and Firefox will restart with factory defaults applied.

Hello Orbisson,

Would you try this please :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar keyword enabled

and make sure its value is set to false

If you had to change the value, then close and restart Firefox.

Is this now needed in FF 65 and no option available the GUI?

As none of the above solved the problem, would you try this please :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar browser.urlbar.

Look for the preference :

browser.urlbar.maxRichResults

And set its value to 0 (= zero)

Then close and restart Firefox.

If this doesn't do what you want either, then please change the value back to its default.
