firefox isn't a email program. What site are you at that is doing this?

The problem is the way Firefox handles mailto links. When I click on a mailto link, the email form comes up in Yahoo but there is no email address.

This sounds more like a file associations have you looked into this?

I'll try it, though I don't have YaHoo eMail: Test...

I clicked on the YaHoo link, and gMail opened up. The 'test' address was in the 'To:' field for me.

Looks like the test from PJ's post opens up Thunderbird for me. I think there might be an application association in Firefox.

Try resetting the feature that customizes this feature in Firefox. Change the program used to open email links

When you set it to yahoo one more time, does it still open without the mail? It could also be that the link you are clicking on does not copy the content, do you have a link we can test to make sure?

What email service do you use?

Yahoo seems to be broken currently when you click a mailto link in case you use this service.

I think there is an application association problem in Firefox.

Firefox uses this URL for sending Yahoo mailto links:

https://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=%s

Firefox replaces the %s with the contents of the email link you clicked, so

mailto:jscher2000@example.com

becomes

https://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=mailto%3Ajscher2000%40example.com

(the symbols are encoded)

As you've noted, that doesn't work since some time in September when Yahoo did a redesign.

It's very frustrating. Yahoo and Mozilla don't have the best relationship so getting Yahoo to start accepting the standard Firefox URL again doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Through a lot of searching and experimenting, I discovered that this will work:

https://mrd.mail.yahoo.com/compose/?to=jscher2000%40example.com

but since Firefox always inserts mailto: (mailto%3A) into the link, there's no way to modify Firefox to send that instead. You would need an add-on or other hack-around to do it.

That worked for me. I do have a YaHoo account, but the MailTo for me is setup for gMail. I signed-into YaHoo, clicked on your link. Your Yahoo link worked, sending me to my YaHoo Mail and your example address was auto-filled in the 'To:' field.

Hopefully someday Yahoo will start accepting the format Firefox normally sends so this will not be necessary.

(1) Right-click an email link => "New Yahoo Mail message"

That add on doesn't work. It puts a name in the subject line and puts garbage in the message.

 There is a disconnect between Yahoo and Firefox. I would like to use mailto with yahoo. I know that I am not the only one that uses Yahoo. Why can't Firefox make it compatible with Yahoo. How can Firefox put out a browser that is not compatible with every thing.
