How can I hide Thunderbird error message "Could not connect to mail server"
Hi,
After I switched email account from POP to IMAP, whenever I disconnect from Internet, the error message "Could not connect to mail server" popups in the bottom right corner, this is very annoying since I know I'm disconnected, I don't need Thunderbird to tell me every time, how can I hide this error message? I don't remember this happens with POP, but it happens every time with IMAP.
Thanks.

Place Thunderbird in offline mode.... Click the two blue computer icons on the bottom left of the screen.

Sorry, I should clarify that the internet outage is very short (a few seconds) and is usually initiated by myself, so I don't want to click more buttons during this process, I wanted to click less buttons (i.e. just the button needed to turn off/on internet). This is why I just want a way to hide the message.
there is no way for you to hide the message. The program is telling you it can't do what your requested. Get mail. I suggest you fix whatever the underlying issue is that the internet drops in and out.

But this problem rarely happens with POP, I just want IMAP to work like POP.
But it is not POP it is IMAP and it is in constant communication with the server, most IMAP servers have push notifications of new mail (Gmail is one) so there is a constant thread awaiting messages.

Then I guess I'm looking for a way to stop IMAP maintaining a constant connection, is there a way to run IMAP like POP?
