First of all, I am not qualified to use Linux, although I have been running it for several years with mixed success. I recently installed Firefox version 62.0, which is not great, although it is much better than Debian's Firefox ESR.

I used some special method which turned up on a DuckDuckGo search. As a preliminary step, it had me install something called Snap. The whole installation process was simple, virtually automatic. However, since Sept 21, I have been receiving notices that Firefox is unable to download version 62.0.2. I have also been unable to download v. 62.0.2 manually.

I used the "locate" command which indicates that several Firefox files are in directories such as "/var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/firefox_firefox.desktop," among others. I suppose that Firefox is looking for a certain file in a directory, which is in one of these snap or snapd directories.

I am reluctant to attempt to uninstall ver.62.0, and then attempt to install ver.62.0.2. I believe I could download and install the ver.62.0.2 tarball, if I knew what directory to download it to. Can you tell me what the name of that directory? If so, I might be able to find that directory in the snap or snapd directories that I have.

Thank you for your courtesy and patience in assisting with this matter.

Hi, not so qualified myself anymore. Especially the harder ones.

What I understand is most people on Linux skip versions due to having to redo everything. Unless major security or product enhancements or software fixes they want to limit Complete new install. As for Snap have read about it only.

You would want to work with this Release URL for complete Linux

Or with the Extended Release Version which is version 60.2.1

Not too many Linux people here but there is one that can help if hang long enough.

But, should also take your stuff to a Linux Forum for your release & snap forum.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I was unable to find anything among the various websites you mentioned. However, I went back to the site from which I found snap, and it appears that the upgrade has to go through snap, and at this time, the upgrade to Ff ver.62.0.2 has not yet been released

Thanks again for your efforts in helping me with this.
