Privacy and security setting require too much time and too much to have to learn just secure access to the Internet? Why don't you get it? Firefox users need to have default suites of security setting from which to choose. Examples: Maximum Security: High Security: Medium Security: Low security: Roll my own by picking and choosing.

Clicking on any of these security categories should list what is included and maybe an option to change something.

Once an option is chosen, subsequent changes and updates to features within that option should be automated and a 'What's new/changed in the chosen security category be added within security updates emails.

As it is I have to spend hours figuring what alll this stuff means just to get security internet acces via a Firefox - not that other are better.

Hi Dogmarcopolo, if you want to use Tracking Protection in regular windows as well as private windows, there is a setting for that. See: What happened to Tracking Protection?

Firefox's default configuration needs to balance functionality with tracking protection because if people cannot use their favorite websites, then Firefox is useless to them.

I appreciate that a "levels" slider sounds appealing, but your concept of medium-high and someone else's may not be the same, so people will need to understand the main features anyway and then they might as well manage them directly rather than being limited to individual bundles of settings.

Hello, nice of you to tell Support Volunteers this. It will go no where.

Please go to 2 Bar Menu --> Help --> Submit Feedback Which goes to the same place a Feedback Email would.

A team will view Constructive submissions for consideration for future releases.

Google it 1st word Firefox, next what your looking for (subject from the page). They can all be found very easily.

Thx will give it a go- what do you think of that suggestion?

Well there would be something to it I guess but then 3/4's of everyone has no idea what Microsoft UAC is with it's slider. I run with it off. People wonder why their installs get blocked and have a hard time.

Have leaned you can not please everyone all of the time.

Being that they just made drastic changes in there, if the leave it alone for awhile might be a good idea. People hate change on their favourite browser regardless of the reason.

It is actually simple if know you need to dive into each setting. There is a lot there now that should have built in help maybe like web pages and ALT descriptions pics. Or the Description Tag, newspapers tend to use.

Thx I get the time and resistance to browser change issues but you obviously don't it. Sure it's easy to select a la carte if you have the time and nothing else to do.

For everyday stuff like this, say using my stereo system I need an ON, OFF, PAUSE, and only want more detail if I am trying to do something funky.

This stuff is very funky and Firefox would do well, if can find the time, to hiding the funky stuff until one absolutely want or need to know.

Sirvey users and see what they think.

What security settings are you confused by? The default settings that Firefox ships with are the recommended ones, you shouldn't need to adjust them unless you know what you're doing.

The defaults are not secure enough and to be more secure and more private one has to learn about private browsing.

A max secure option could be some of what's in pvt browsing without the change in screen appearance.

How do you feel they are not secure enough?

All private browsing does it delete the data from your local computer, which obviously isn't something most people want

Hi I get your point.

'so people will need to understand the main features anyway and then they might as well manage them directly rather than being limited to individual bundles of settings.' But this is kinda like the old debate about between the auto and the computer exec - what to do when the engine won't start. Reboot?

I don't want to have to choose, nor should I have to, whether I need ABS, seat-belts, anti-glare and fog lights, and what not - I just want what will keep me comfortable, safe on the road and private. Why is any of that optional?

If my car trunk, gas and battery are not available for others (because it's mine), why should people who want to invade my privacy and steal and sell my personal data to make money off all I do, without my permission such as: using up and increasing my download time, eating up my storage, cpu and memory and secretly poking around at what's in my wallet or suitcase be possible via a browser. That's would be like Ford selling you a car while giving everyone else a copy of the keys. Nuts you would think???

Would you want to use UBER or Airbnb if you were going to have your personal info stolen and the vehicle hijacked, or the vacation rental came with cameras and listening devices piped to the NSA or worse the Dark WEB? When one use a browser one is exposed to all of that and worse. The assumption aught to be begin with maximum security and privacy by default and allow knowledgeable risk takers a way to make changes if they must.

The assumption must always be to keep the bastards (advertisers and all) out one's life - not leave it up to an unsuspecting user to get hit then say Ah you could have chosen this option?

Look this stuff is not going to get any simpler but only more complex with time. There will always be those who want to pick and choose but the majority won't know where to start and won't be bothered and if your default setting does not cater for maximum privacy and security from the time someone downloads your browser you are missing a marketing opportunity and failing to protect your users.

What default settings are wrong in your view?

Tracking Protection blocking content is fairly easy to notice by the the shield icon on the location/address bar, so you would only have to look for it and if it appears then you can click the shield to disable TP in case of issues with the current page.
