Firefox is blocking access to valuable public sites such as AMTRAK and I object to this idiot policy under the guise of "security"! Restore access now to Public Sites and quit making Firefox users jump through hoops to connect to valuable information. You are doing Firefox users a great DISSERVICE!

Hi, From your wording, I get the impression that you think you are directly contacting developers or Mozilla employees. You're re not. This is a community support forum. The people that answer questions here are users just like you, volunteering their time.

Using the latest version of Firefox on macOS 10.13.4, www.amtrak.com loads fine here. (See attached screenshot)

Let's figure out why it's not working for you. The first thing I would recommend is that you update your version of Firefox. For instructions, see Update Firefox to the latest release .

When you say "blocking access", are you getting any error messages? Could you try the solutions in the following article, and see if any of them help:

If the problem still occurs, we'll need some more info about your Firefox setup. Go to [=] > Help > Troubleshooting Information then click Copy text to Clipboard. Open a reply to this post, and go to Edit > Paste to paste the info from your Troubleshooting Information page.

What is the exact message you are getting?

That is because Firefox 45 doesn't support the cipher suite that the website wants to use (SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP).

  • TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_CHACHA20_POLY1305_SHA256
    security.ssl3.ecdhe_rsa_chacha20_poly1305_sha256

You will have to use a newer Firefox version like Firefox 52 ESR if you want to use a Firefox version that supports Legacy extensions.

Firefox 52.8.0 ESR (note the selector):

https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2015/09/11/deprecating-the-rc4-cipher/ https://www.fxsitecompat.com/en-CA/docs/2016/rc4-support-has-been-completely-removed/

The RC4 support has been deprecated since Firefox 36 and disabled by default since Firefox 44. As a temporary workaround, the users could still enable it via hidden preferences in case some intranet applications were not updated yet. After a 1-year grace period, Firefox 50 has removed the ability to override the preferences so now the RC4 support is completely dropped. This follows Google Chrome 53 released in August (2016) which took the same security measure. From now on Firefox will just show the SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP error when encountered any site using the RC4 cipher.

In this case the website supports only TLS 1.2 and prefers very modern cipher suites.
