How do I fix a folder called Buy in my tabs that continues mulyiply itself and crashes Firefox.

more options

In my tab called Business, I have a folder called Buy. This folder seems to have multiplied an infinite amount of times (I couldn't even count them all) and consequently, Firefox slows down to a crawl while my bookmarks are trying to load and then it just crashes. I can't seem to delete the folder. How can I solve this problem? I am seriously considering a switch to Microsoft Edge if I can't fix this problem soon. Thanks for any help...

Does the folder just not delete, or does it keep coming back?

What is inside 'Buy' ? Did you create it, or did an add-on?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>.

Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Hi LorraineMKelly, one possibility is that there really are lots of duplicates. Another possibility is that the database is corrupted so that something points back to itself, so Firefox keeps repeating the same data over and over when trying to show your bookmarks.

Either way, I think we probably have to take some drastic action, but first I'd like to see if you can figure out which problem you have with your bookmarks.

Are you able to export your bookmarks to an HTML format file? This article has the steps for that: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks.

If Firefox will create an export file, you can open it it any browser to see whether you find a lot of repetitions of the Buy folder or whether it looks sensible.

LorraineMKelly,

Are you using Sync? And if so, do you have a "mobile" device running on that Firefox Account? Such as smart phone running Firefox for Android or Firefox for iOS.
