This is the 3rd or 4th time I have tried to get help with this. I am having a color problem that is messing me up all over the internet.

I need help. I have told this to you over 3 times with ZERO response. I am having problems with the colors on Firefox in Windows 10. When I am using yahoo to write email I can not see the 24 different colors or 24 different highlights. Just 24 shaded boxes. They are all the same color, so I have no idea what I may or may not be typing. This is also happening all over the internet if I need to enter information in a web sites "box".

I am handicapped and I don't have much of a life. I was hurt at work in 1989 and I have had 8 back surgeries with lots of hardware and fixes to repair the bent titanium rods and screws. I have cadaver bone in my back, I have had one neck surgery with an artificial disc. My doctors are so good, now, that Dr. Tortolani was the surgeon who actually invented the artificial disc. I also have had both shoulders rotator cuffs rebuilt and Tommy John surgery on my right elbow.

I don't have a big life and using the internet to look around and send and read email is a big part of my day.

I have been using Firefox and Windows for a very long time and I am most happy with the two. My 95 pound black lab puppy destroyed my computer at the end of September. She is HUGE and the vet says she will end over 125 pounds. I got a very old Dell from my parents closet that had no problems with Firefox and yahoo email colors. It did have lots of other problems including a dead battery and tons of very old and slow programs. I now have a new, to me a Sony computer, from my brother who basically stripped this computer clean.

My brother and sister in law used Firefox but never had a color problem. I have been told that I have a very good computer now.

I have downloaded and reloaded Windows 10 and the latest versions of Firefox and Windows 10 over and over 30+ times. I have had help doing this, but without any help to me or my computer.

I have followed all of your instructions to reset the colors to default. More about that below.***

After doing all of this I can still not see the colors in yahoo email. I am also having problems all over the internet seeing where I might need to type something.

Just like above when you asked me to Summarize your question in a sentence. I could not find where to type that. I had to go to Microsoft Edge and bring up that page to see where I needed to type. All I could see was Can't find an answer? Summarize your question..... . That was just plain white area with black letters. I could not see the box to type in.

All over the internet if I need to type in a box, I have no idea where that box is. I get no error messages, nothing, this computer thinks everything is working just fine. There are more places this happens than you might think. Thank goodness I know where to type on Google. I can't see that either. I just know where to go after using google for a long time like years long time.

I have had help and tried myself a total of three times to do your Firefox color reset and that hasn't worked. I know so because of the warranty statement. I can't get that to work today. WHY???? Who knows.

I only know I did this correctly because I got the message about the warranty the first 2 times I tried to reset the colors to default. Today when I tried the color reset AGAIN, I couldn't get to the correct spot and try to restore the colors to the default. So I am doing something wrong today trying the reset today. If I only had to click one place then the computer takes over and does the 4 steps. MAYBE if there was a problem and the 4 steps did or could not complete I could send you the error message and Firefox gets back to me with what went wrong.

LIKE I STILL CAN'T SEE THE COLORS. 90% is just black writing. I have a signature that should be in red and blue. It is only in black so it is not like I can't see colors but they are there. Everything I send is just black.

I need someone to please get back to me with this. I am at my wits end. I love Firefox and I don't want to use Edge or Explorer. Chrome is completely out of the question. I will be more than happy to let someone into my computer and figure out what the problem is.

I have a lot of things not working in my life right now I really need some help with this. I thank you in advance so much that you all could figure out what is wrong with this computer and Firefox. The colors work in Edge and Explorer but I want to use Firefox as that is what I know and use.

I know their is probably something very simple that you people at Firefox know what and how to fix this. I know, I worked at a call center for Southwestern Bell for 3 years, that you guys show to others how crazy problems that people need help with. I just need a few minutes of your time. I am more than happy to talk on the phone or chat or letting you look around in my computer. It's probably an easy 5 minute fix.

I thank you in advance for helping me, PLEASE.

I am more than happy to help to do tests........ Follow through. Sometimes, our volunteers would ask you for more information or to test out certain scenarios. The sooner you can do this, the sooner they would know how to fix it.

      • (SIDE NOTE) Why when I know what the problem is. Exactly like this problem. You tell me to do 4 steps. Find the address bar type restore:colors,,,, might void warranty... 2 other things. Why CAN"T I JUST HIT I HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND MY COMPUTER DOES THE 4 STEPS ???????? I am usually lost after step 1. That just makes too much sense.
        • (SIDE NOTE 2) It is very hard to find where to write this problem to you. My issue doesn't fit any of the other categories, I think it doesn't, so getting this to you is not the easiest. Try to do it yourself.

There is a NASCAR fan reactions that NASCAR ask about every week. It is called the NASCAR Fan Council. I was asked to join this at the very very beginning when they didn't quite know how to do. I was asked to join because it was impossible to ask the upper most levels of authority a question that I thought NASCAR should look at. When I finally got to an executive I said the same thing. Try to find yourself. He couldn't and I was asked to join the NASCAR Fan Council.

I am also asking management at Firefox to send a question to themselves and see how easy it is not. ****

Hi Rob, have you set Windows to use a "high contrast" theme, such as High Contrast Black? When Firefox detects a high contrast theme, it modifies how colors displays on web pages to create more contrast and this often conflicts with the site design.

Please try this change on the Options page:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type color and Firefox should filter the page down so you can easily find the "Colors" button. Go ahead and click that.

About half way down the Colors dialog, you'll see:

"Override the colors specified by the page with your selections above"

Below that, it usually says

"Only with High Contrast themes"

Click that and change the setting to

"Never"

then click OK to finish the change.

Does that help at all?

Here's a screenshot of that part of the Colors dialog:

Your problems may have several causes. The computers theme, the browsers theme, color settings, add-ons and other programs . . . . . .

First, let's get a closer look at your system.

Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Now in the Reply Box on the forum page, do a right-click in the box and select Paste.

This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.
